I just blocked EGR Valves on VED12 Volvo engine and sharing results

Hello , i just blocked the 2 pipes that exit from EGR valves with 2 stainless plates , added 6 new gaskets , 2 in the top area { EGR cooler entry} and 4 on each side of stainless side {egr valves exit}, i also blocked the rubber pipe who exit from EGR COOLER and enter in to the intake to eliminate the risk of having coolant in the engine in case of EGR COOLER failure , tested system under 40psi pressure , was ok .
Roadtest yesterday with 70.000 pounds gross weight 700 miles , NO CODES ON ECU .
The positive side is that engine sounds ,...AWESOME !!! , you can really feel the engine breathing , i also gained 2 psi on turbo , now turbo push 35 psi under hard acceleration before it was stuck at 33 psi.

Thr neg side is that pulling power is the same but MPG look worse , ... around 0.5 , 0.6. less than before and somehow the engine brake does not have the power it had before .Other thing is that at 1100 rpm on hill with 13sp the engine now start to shake a bit and has less power compared with before .
Somehow i think that engine does not calculate properly the fuel/air ratio now .
    That's my test , truck is a 2006 Volvo VNL670 with Ved12 dual EGR valve engine .

We operate 2004 D12D engines w/o EGR (420 HP). at first glance I see no notisable differens, the same turbine, the same cyl.head, so seems to me blocking EGR will not cause shorter engine life, like on MAN TGA engines and ISX.

Seems to me no engine damage may happen. You just converted EPA2005 engine to Euro-III, may be you can get some overboosting, but EPG will not let boost pressure be over 2.5 BAR, so this engine will run well (IMO)

As for engine longevity, blocking would have to be an improvement. I have had my ISX "de-EGR'd" for over 200,000 miles. My latest oil sample with just under 25,000 miles on the oil in a 623,000 mile engine showed iron at 8ppm, lead at 1ppm, and soot at .1ppm. Those are darn good figures by anyone's standard. My average mpg went from mid 6's till I did the "de-EGR" to mid 7's after doing the mod.

I'm curious if leaving a small hole in the plates you put in to block the EGR tubes might solve the problem? Don't block it totally...

people say D12D works w/o EGR fine, but PNLT engines are with higher exaust temperature and blocking EGR may damage engine
