He doesn't get angry about people taking his "numbers" its because he will tell someone what will work best for thier truck and instead of them going to him to do the work they go straight to PDI which still costs the same money and get them to do it. So its because hes a PDI dealer and hes also trying to make some sales for himself and not get back doored. He doesn't give us any "numbers" he doesn't want us to know.

Numbers don't mean much in my opinion, FLS/FTS and trim numbers are a small portion of the puzzle. I've watched numerous sets of numbers on the same engine on a dyno have a net effect of 5 hp at the tires. I've also seen in those same numbers create a 50-60 lb-ft difference in torque, but again it isn't the complete puzzle. The other thing you don't seem to realize is I'm a PDI dealer and as such.........the only way a customer gets that file is through another PDI Dealer. If you think PDI is using stock CAT files to upgrade ECMs and using the the FLS/FTS numbers as a secret recipe to build Hp and fuel mileage, you need to try one of those ECMs on a truck
Now you are giving me grief over how I conduct myself.
Here's the deal. I started my quest for Hp as a truck owner that was paying for the Hp upgrades from my trucks profit each year. Every time I talked with a supposed Hp Guru that sold Hp upgrades for my engine, I walked away with a feeling that I was going to get shafted in the end. Yes, they would provide the necessary methods to arrive at my Hp goals, but at an extreme cost to my wallet. One fellow I dealt with on the purchase of a new ECM charged me 25% above what his quote after he finished his work. Can I purchase the camshafts and injectors from CAT and resell them to customers? Yes, but I can't buy these parts with enough of a discount below what any trucker can walk into a CAT dealer to purchase it for and make a profit for my efforts to sell it without looking like the earlier rip off artists I've dealt with in my own Hp quests. Am I giving away knowledge? Yes. It evidently makes you uncomfortable to see my knowledge given away, why? You have to understand something, I'm a Hp consultant. I don't want to turn wrenches on truck engines. I've turned enough wrenches on my own truck to last me a lifetime worth of busted knuckles and smashed fingers. If I'm not installing the parts into the engine, how am I supposed to hide the part numbers from my customers when they're plainly engraved in the parts after I sell them the parts? Wouldn't it be easy for them to check the price differences between what I sold those parts to them for against what CAT would have charged them for the same part number. Again another rip off artist strategy I never liked is remove the part numbers from the parts being sold to keep the customer tied to me as a supply source. I hated these type of sales tactics as a truck owner and refuse to treat people in this manner.
You don't see file numbers, do you? Do you think there are differences in the files with the same PMC/IC?

Mr. Haney, I need your expertise for two things, one an opinion about the C12's vs. C15's. I've been doing some research and seems like pros and cons. found a truck with a C12 I'm thinking of buying. Can they be tweaked into wunderkids too?
Second, a friend has a trailer mounted grinding machine, for pallets and such, powered by a C15, 2008 vintage, I believe, non-EGR, putting out 4-something horses. He would like to have it scanned, and, perhaps, optimized. I mentioned I'd heard of your experience and he was interested to get in touch. He's in New Britain, Ct., owns a small manufacturing company. Can you PM me if it's something you can or want to do? Are you near New England?

Hi there, I'm new to this forum, there seems to be a lot of knowledge and information here. I recently bought a 2005 international 9900 with a 565 isx 10 speed 3.42 gears truck had 401k when I bought it. I've put about 8000 mi on it and so far have been disappointed with the fuel mileage. I pull a refer from Wisconsin to Seattle and I've averaged 5.2-5.3 mpg. I've been strongly considering a pdi tune to delete egr, I called pdi and all the guy wanted to talk about is 650hp at the wheels, that's really not what I want, I had cummins derate it to 495 just to see what I get for mileage. If Mr Haney would be so kind as to weigh in, can I get rid of the egr, and have maybe 525-575hp at flywheel while getting maybe 6.0-6.2mpg? I have also considered putting a full roof fairing on(it is a midroof truck). And maybe changing the gear ratios to 3.73 or so, to slow it down. I already took off the tall 24.5 rubber and went with lo22.5. I drive very conservative , usually 63-65 mph. Any advice or info is greatly appreciated.

U know this is so true. I have called Kurt about three or four times and he always has had time for my ?'s. The funny thing is that he doesn't know me from adam. But he is willing to help a guy out. I can't say that for any other place or person I have dealt with. They just want $$$ and the H-ll with ya. Oh ya and buy the way I did end up with a ECM tune from him along with lots of info. And who said u couldn't make an MBN Run.
