carbass, did u get any info on this? I also have a 12.7 DDEC IV (4) and would like to eliminate the EGR system altogether. Should free up some MPG.

Is it possible to set the Series 60 to boost mode using resistors? I decided to try.
I started by using three blue 3M/Scotchlock T-tap connectors and three eight foot peices of #16 wire. I T-tapped a wire to each of the 3 wires going to the atmospheric pressure sensor, and ran the other end of the three wires to the top of my dashboard. From there I could easily measure voltage levels output by the sensor.
Assuming the black to be ground, the gray wire measured +5 V. w/reference to the black wire. The voltage from the pink wire to ground varied with changes in elevation as follows:
    Altitude (ft.) Voltage
    4500 3.18
    5060 3.09
    5900 2.91
    6300 2.84
    8460 2.48

I heard that elevations above 7000 ft. were supposed to trigger boost mode. Based on my measurements, I used two 10 K ohm 1/2 watt resistors to provide 2.5 volts to supply the pink wire as shown below.

    ---------------------------------R1-----------|-----------R2----------------------------

RESULTS: I can definitely say my truck is running better. My truck had previously been smoking and lacking power at low rpm. (I have spent $3000 and two different days in the shop trying to get the problem fixed, but nothing helped.) But, by removing the sensor and connecting the resistors has definately cleared up that low power and smoke problem the engine was having.
I do track my mpg, but my routes and loads vary so widely I have not been able to come up with a number for my mpg improvement.

I copied and pasted this from letstruck.com; I have personally used a device called the egrtuner that did the same thing. This is simpler though.

Did you try EGRtuner ? How does it work for you? Did MPG/Power get better?

Not only did I try it, I tested it for Jeff. It's really very simple, so simple sounds like hocus pocus, but when you understand egr its a no brainer. And yes, motor ran like a pre egr detroit, because it in essence, was a pre egr with the egrtuner.

Where can you get one? My boss has been looking for something to make our detroits run better. We have 5 that are egr engines. Mine is the worst running. Under 1500 rpm it chugs real bad, almost like sneeze, loose all the boost, doesnt pull hills well at all.

so how do i go about deleteing the egr system on a 60 series that im rebuilding. we are replacing the turbo anyway so if we had to get a constant geometry turbo that wouldnt be a problem.
