    FASS - good investment?

I have a 379 Pete with a C15 ACERT tuned by PDI with all the cheap mods done. I've cracked a couple of fuel filter heads and suck air so I'm thinking of replacing it with a FASS.

What's your experience with them? Any performance improvement? Fuel mileage? Which one would I need? I know they want to sell me the high dollar 220GPH one, but is it necessary? A stock ACERT only flows 90GPH so I'm thinking the 150GPH unit would be plenty, but I bet someone has the answer to which one is required and why.

I have the regular FASS on the same set up which is a 06 ACERT with the stage 1 tune from PDI. I dont know for sure if there is any performance improvment from it. I changed some other stuff when I installed it. I can say this I dont think you will see what they claim. I can also say that I had trouble with my truck gelling up when it was cold as the factory filter did not have a heator. With the FASS installed I've not had any problems and no I did not run the coolant trough it. It seems to be able to pump the fuel through if it gets gelled or waxed a bit till the engine can heat the fuel up. It also makes bleeding the system after a filter change a breeze. Will it pay for itself with fuel savings, I doubt it. But if it saved an injector it would. It is very well made. I would put 1 on again.

Just fit an extra lift pump, that's the only thing that FASS does.

Here is My .02....yes they are a good investment.....just for the fact that they give some filtration as well as supply the transfer pump with apx 17 psi...rather than having the transfer pump suck....I have found in my experience there is more to gain overall in fuel flow on these Cats than most realize.....will you pick up mileage? will you pick up hp? ...your results my vary...but it is a good investment....fwiw I have a customer that has a setup similar to yours...except mxs....I did mufflers, fuel pressure, fuel wire, and stage 1 550 tune....ran that way for 6 months to year....we just put Fass on bout 2 months ago and upsized a few lines and took out some 90's, but did not replumb the whole system .....truck is smoother...it always had small hiccup 1300 to 1400 rpm....but a benefit I never expected is his boost is up consistently by about 4 to 5 psi....shows on gauge as well as on Cat ET....so go figure....I think they are worth the money....I'd get the 200 or 220 also. The Fass will not replace the factory filter head, you still need to run that with the Fass. They are hooked up before the transfer pump

when you say factory filterhead do you mean the one on the outside of frame or the one on the motor?

    filter head

They take the place of the frame mounted filter... They go between the tank and transfer pump... The one on the engine remains and again my .02 always run the Cat high effeciency 1r-0749 in that location. RW
