| Peterbilt factory on tv Just got done watching a National Geographic special which included a hour long segment of the Peterbilt factory in Denton Tx. Very neat operation. Facts that I learned......they crank out 100 trucks per day, when done painting they only take 20 minutes to dry, the amount of customiztion on each truck is a lot (I thought they would just be cranking out the "standard model" ), they make their own fuel tanks out of sheets of aluminum and the welding is all done by robots, speaking of robots there are robotics in every aspect of production, there is over 1,000 feet of wire in the dash, a lot of glue is used in constructing the cab and it seemed like the quality control was very strong. Great show! |
