Propane for fuel mileage I have been using a progressive propane injection system on my 550 CAT for a little over 3 months now . I was getting about 5.5 to 6 depending on my haul etc, and now consistently see 7 to sometimes 8 (again depending on my load and right foot ) I was apprehensive about the claims of a 2mpg increase, but for me it is very close. The power gain is impressive too.So many guys I talk to have never heard of it that it got me to wondering if anyone else is using this system or another like it and is it working for them?? I would think.......it could help alot of us who are struggling with the price of go juice. I like that there is an icon just for me

This has been in use for many years overseas - In Sydney they run the buses on LPG, as well as taxis. Private vehicles can also run it in conjunction with petrol and can be bought with it already fitted - the only pollution it gives out is, which it isn't, is water.

It must be becoming a popular alternative fuel. This is not a real conversion because the truck is never running on propane itself. Always running on #2. It uses propane,to squeeze more mileage and power out of the diesel fuel thats already there by burning it more completely?? I also notice a little less black smoke at times

| All the LPG conversions I've seen that run only on propane have been gasoline engines. The diesels use it more like a gas engine uses NOS, only not nearly as destructive for the engine. Haven't really gotten into this yet, too many projects already going, but what I have read is very favorable.

This kit is variable so unless I'm pulling a lot of boost, it doesn't use much........my tank is around 40 gallons and lasts around 1500 miles. I have the tank mounted on the headache rack......nice custom brackets, but they had some side mount ones too. Flying J's and the like are cheap for propane. I am seeing a reduced cost per mile........since running it....that's why I wondered why more people didnt use it or know about it. I will try and get some real numbers down for the next run and report back, but I know it's good. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. , you can see the tank set up.
