I have a quick question. I need to know what engines are out there that are compatible with 18 speed eaton. And also how much do they cost new? and possibly used ones as well( with at least 50 % life left)?

Why do you want an 18?

Planning on heavy haul or what?

Awesome, this will go behind a C12 or C10. I have yet to evaluate ISX option.

Usually the folks that need an 18 have the bigger engines for the HP and torque, you don't often see the smaller engines, especially for on highway applications with an 18.

You have got me very curious Mr. Vijay. What do you plan on using an 18spd mated with a C12 or C10 with.

Hello KH, long story short, I cannot stand auto trans. I recently found someone close by ( junkyard) that is trying to sell a 18 speed, dirt cheap. It is a bit too much for my needs but since I can skip shift, I'm all on it. My travel is all h/w ... :biggrin_25516:

The 18 speed is a great transmission, Shifts very nice and goes good with 3:73's in my opinion.. I don't think you will be disappointed..

Little overkill there if you ask me. The eaton 13 and 18 speed are the same transmission with a different shift knob. The 18 speed allows you split in low range and high. While the 13 only splits in the high range. The Eaton 13 speed in my opinion is the best choice for on highway application. Only time you would benefit fron the 18 is if you were heavy and needed the split on the low side to keep the engine in the torque curve.

Also swapping an auto shift to a manual is not just swap and go. You have driveline length, air, electrical, etc. that must be accounted for. It can be done, just do your homework on the swap before you go buying a junkyard tranny.

Just as Bigd said. An 18 would make a cool playtoy trans but there will be work involved to make it work.:biggrin_25514:
