a former co-worker buddy of mine drives one. he doesn't seem to either like it or hate it. one thing though to keep in mind, and that's the PM services on that truck. my buddies truck has the mack engine. mack requires (or at leat did) to change the fuel injectors every 150,000 miles. you do not mention the engine in the vision you are inquiring about. another thing too is the stop-to-stop turning of the steer axle. it doesn't seem to allow for too much in the way of a turning radius. this can be a simple adjustment at the shop, as my buddy has had taken care of.

in all, as for road trucks, i'd rather have an International over a Mack any day. but of course, my first choice would be a Peterbilt 389, then a Freightliner classic, then the K-Whopper W-900, then the International, then a volvo.

mack's would be dead last for me.

look at a kw studio sleeper with couch and upper bunk, you will never talk about cramped again.

the volvo has SO much air ride you can't feel the road and they sway horribly, I hate them but alot of folks seem to like them. in a strong side wind they lean because there is so much soft suspension in them

I'v had lots of detroits, they are good motors if you get the bigger ones. alot of companies use them so they spec them out with little hp and that is what sucks. As far as overall cost of operation to power they are probably the best available. I like cats, they will run a long time with little work but when they do need work WATCH OUT, they are expensive. plus they are heavy and get horrible fuel milage in my opinion. cummins I feel get better fuel milage but lack the pulling power. Internally the detroit and cat are almost identical. I used to be a diesel mechanic and I'v seen the insides of both.

look at a t200 KW they are nice and they are wide bodies. They are alot like the pete 387 but I feel the pete is overpriced and I hear guys complain about the sleeper setup, i'v never seen one.

I would never buy a freightliner unless I got it CHEAP. I drive ALOT of them. we have a few fdl's, a century and a columbia. I hate the dashes in the fdl but I liek the ride, I hate the ride in the others and I constantly hit my kneww on that stupid cup holder they put in them. Oh ya, freightliner can't build a truck with a decent cup holder for the life of them. Plus there is ZERO value when you trade in a freightliner. they won't give you anything for it

Well, I'm not all that big on Mack motors because to me the are better suited for dump/log truck service than anything. I mean I watched a show on Mack on TV and they put their trucks through #### when testing. If I got any truck I would have to go with Cummins for power and fuel mileage. :smt023 The first truck we had which was a Dick Simon Freightliner FLD120 (refer to my user ID) and it has been by far the best truck we've been in sense the start 7 years ago and I've been in a many of them sense then. It was also the best riding one too. When we had the KW I noticed something. The FL has a 4 bag suspension as to where the KW has 8 bag's under the rear. The KW leans way more around a curve bob tail than the FL was.

One of the KW's we had road horrible. When it started out The linkage under the back of the cab had broke for the leveler so the cab road sitting on the frame for a some many miles before anything could be done. We finally got home and went to the Mack shop for the linkage rod because no one else here had one. Finally get one that works and get it home. Climb under the truck to reach the leveler bar and give the bag's some air to get it up and off the frame to install the rod. Now if you don't hold the leveler bar while the bags have air then your chances of crushing your hand from the cab lowering it self down are high. After that we tweaked and tweaked on the rod because the cab either road to spongy or to hard so we gave up. Well, when the truck was traded in for another one we found out the air bag's and seating plates had to be changed out because the other one's were bent from the cab sitting on the frame. That's another reason I'm throwing out the choice of a KW. :angryfire:

Push button start. I don't know why but I like it more than the turn key to start and I haven't been any truck other than two Freightliners that had it. I've also seen a lot of these truck's with thin LCD screens on the dash that show file mileage, miles, and all that other good stuff. Don't like it don't want it so I hoping a lot of these companies don't have such. Prime had emergency buttons on the dash of their trucks. I didn't like that idea because if you were to accidentally hit it then it's an automatic 911 call to your truck. I see a lot you of you and I've heard a lot of people talk about how they like the long hood better. I've ridden in a Pete and I don't really care for the long hood although it makes the truck feel/seem bigger. The one major down fall to this is visibility. The biggest hood I like is the FLD hood and smaller. Coe's.

You can throw that out the window except the fact that I like the new Freightliner coe's outside design. I used to like the older one's somewhat until something I saw that still haunts me today. About 3 31/2 years ago We were in Slidell, La. Got up went in got our coffee and came back to the truck. Ok on the way across to our truck a truck parked caddy corner across from us had had his hood snatched completely off while we were inside and the truck that did it when he pulled out didn't even know and was already on his way down the road. "Well, there's a good way to start your day!" OK so after so I'm expecting another normal hot sunny day. We get on 10 east and get about 10 miles down the road and there's a back up all the way up to exit 12. Some random guy had been hit by an older 80's coe Pete pulling a drop deck dry van and 3 cars. After what I saw on the road I didn't eat for two week's after and I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep at night. :puke:Somehow I ended up talking to someone on Yahoo roughly a year ago who happened to know that person who had been killed. That was the creepiest thing I've ever experienced and it still haunts me to this day.

So any kind of coe is out of question completely plus I bet they get poor fuel mileage with the aerodynamics' of a box. :toothy10: I wonder if Freightliners come with a couch option? I'm doubting it but it would be pretty cool. I've only seen one KW with a couch but I thought it was something custom. They Kw's do sway but it's nothing bad like MedicineMan was saying about the Volvo's. I'll have to look it back up but I saw one company who start's out at $0.38 a mile training then go up from there plus they have Century's so it doesn't sound like a bad deal. However I want actual miles and not from zipcode to zipcode.

And one thing to say about all audio systems in all company trucks and a majority of O/O. They sound horrible! Pretty much any truck that hasn't had a good sound system installed. :headbang: I'm a musician and a music junky so it's a must even if I have to put something in of my own and I see quite a few company drivers putting in their own CD players to get rid of the crap in the dash or head board. (depending on the truck) :smt020 How many of you have your CB's over your head than on the dash?
I saw a picture of the cab of a Vision and it doesn't look like you have the option of your CB and radio being up above your head rather than on the dash.

the kw does run an 8 bag. they do lean bobtail but if your bobtailing you aint making money. not when you own that truck. The NEW 8 bag kw suspension is much improved over the last version also.

All the trucks have the same air ride cab setup.

sounds to me liek you have never seen anything other than a company spec truck. an owner op spec has much nicer interior and stereo configurations.

freightliner and Pete are the only ones I know that hang there cb's from the roof. I also prefer this arraingment.

so why are we still having this discussion. It's pretty obviouse you want a freightliner and I don't even remember the original question anymore! :happy10:
