    Detroit DDEC4 ECM Custom Tune

I have a 2000 Kenworth T-800 with a 430/470 Detroit. Would like to get my ECM tuned. Nothing crazy, maybe in the 550-600 HP Range. This will be in a silage truck where low end torque is more what im after. The truck only has a 10 speed, but the low gears are pretty close and i have close hauls. I know this is where a Cat would shine, but i have to work with what i got. Some names i have heard of by reading older posts on here are:

    Brad
    Leon
    Rebel127
    Erich

I only have contact info for Brad. Would like contact info for some of the others. Also anyone that would recommend or not recommend any of these guys??

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Find Mr Haney on here. He's the one you want to talk to here. There are plenty of threads on here with him.

rebel127 is Leon. Mr. Haney is awesome, but I think he is a CAT man only. Any of the guys you listed can reprogram your ddec IV.

Send rebel a pm or www.ss60pd.com for Erich. They both have been running good power with the engines staying together for work trucks

If you've read the other DDEC ecm posts, you probably saw what I have said. I stand by it. Rebel127. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. PM me if you have questions that I can answer or want info I can give.

Without upgrading clutch or any hard parts, how high are most guys going??

Do most upgrade turbo at the same time or can you still run your stock turbo??

Does your turbo have a wastegate? If it does, I would recommend upgrading to a non-wastegate turbo like the Borg Warner 171702. Most drivers upgrade the turbo shortly after a tune.

First its not a matter of is one better than the other they both have there place IMO. The wastegated turbos generally have a smaller turbine for faster response and greater low end power when the flow exceeds the low end requirements and the back pressure in the exh manifold rises above the boost the wastegate opens dumping drive energy to the exhaust also controlling overall boost and turbo speed. The non wastegated turbos generally have a larger turbine for greater exhaust flow but sometimes lack in response and low end power. In my case i work with Detroit's mostly so i have found the best match for a Detroit tuned within it's means for every day use a 171702 performs the best with the range of both worlds (low end and top end power) there are also choices for more power but less response and low end as well as greater cost. There are also some better wastegated turbo choices with dual puck wastegates for better distribution of back pressure between the front and back portion of the exh manifold. larger compressor wheels that deliver more are but these are low production turbos used in industrial applications that are hard to obtain and are very expensive (4700$ +$). In most cases the 171702 Borg warner has provided great power as well as a improvement in fuel economy.
