Complete Detroit EGR and VNT Delete
Thought some of you might be interested. Did a complete EGR delete and also got rid of the VNT turbo a few months back on our 2005 Western Star with a DDEC 5 @ 515hp. Something or a few things went bad with the EGR system and rather than spend thousands throwing useless junky parts at it decided to do a complete delete for probably much less then what it would have cost to replace a bunch of this stuff.
Here's some pics I took (sorry only crappy cell pics)
VNT Turbo and EGR cooler removed

Another View

EGR Valve

Flap inside EGR valve

Everything completely removed
top middle is the VNT Turbo, top right is the EGR cooler, below the cooler is the VPOD, and the valve in the bottom center is the Delta Pressure Sensor

and heres the block off plate that I made from the old outlet elbow from the manifold to the EGR cooler

I had a local exhaust shop make me a new intake piece to just attach straight to the CAC boot without the EGR pipe on it and also a new pipe shaped like an S to run from the waterpump to the oil cooler in place of where the EGR cooler was. Don't have pics of those guess I forgot to take them but I can take more pics if anybody is interested.
Thanks Rebel127 for the help with the ECM

Nice work. The oil cooler to water pump S pipe could have been bought from any dealer pretty cheap, but I'm pretty sure you know that. Nice of you to take the time and post pics.

ddc did not make an s pipe for a non egr ddec 5 as they did not make an on hiway non egr engine only industrial engines with a different waterpump configuration .therefor the s pipe that exsists does not fit. So i get a muffler shop to make them ,it is 2.3/4 '' which is not common in the muffler world and hard to bend in that tight of an s bend ,so we weld two elbows together .hope this helps
