Their will always be people that can afford what ever hobby they chose. If you think cars and trucks cost big money go look at fast power boats and auto sports look really cheap all the sudden. Some people are very sucesfull and some get it through family. I'll take it anyway I can thats for sure

Yeah he's also running C18 crank and cylinder packs. Thats the expensive part
I've got much less then 20k in my engine! Its all about how much you can do yourself and definitely SOURCING the right parts from the right people. I built my whole truck for a lot less then it looks from spending the time and sourcing all my parts properly.

Yep, rotating assembly from CAT for C18 with new parts is $22K.

What about the wear and tear when driving like that.
The drive line , mountings , chassis , tires.
Its one thing building power and using it responsibly.
Drag racing is not responsible if you are trying to save money.
You cant launch like that , slipping the clutch , twisting the chassis, straining the drive line and then want the components to last.

I found out after having to rebuild rear end, trans and building a torquey Kenney Bell odd-fire Buick V6 in my old Kaiser Jeep that mud bogging was a sport for men richer than me.
Lucky I learned it very young!

The drags I was at they start out on the high side of the trans. Rev to 1800 and dump the clutch. Tires at 35 psi and suspension chained to frame. That's what they told me anyway. This was over 10 years ago though.
The best part was when the jet engine trucks lit the asphalt on fire. And when that after burner bangs - man it's almost as good as sex.
