    tire problem

    hey guys i have a tire problem that has just came about in the last few weeks.. the back axle in the front the tire on the driver side outside is wearing on the inside really bad and on the back axle the tire on the outside is wearing really bad..i plan to have it checked out at a shop but thought i would ask...i checked the air pressure and all is good 105psi in all..any ideas where and what to check??? thanks mike

    alignment.

    it's common for the inside to start cupping.

    i have the same problem that's now starting to cause the truck to vibrate. 35000 miles on new recaps

    Axles just don't go out of alignment without a reason. If this tire wear has been on-going for weeks, then maybe all you need is and alignment. If this happened rather sudden something else is wrong like worn out bushings or something broken back there.

    guessing by his username he does some off road driving. its not uncommon for alignments to get knocked out in off road applications. this is what id put my money on.

    yah, maybe you've done it but take a close look at the springs and U-bolts. as quick as this problem came on you may have a broken spring or your u-bolts have come loose on one axle. you can usually tell if the u-bolts are loose because there will be a rust mark where they normally sit on the spring. broken spring you will see the crack.

    sorry guys i should have put more info..its a 1997 freightliner fld 120 dump truck.. i have walking beams in the back and will check the bushing today while i am pm the truck....
