Cummin's ISX, how bad are they?!

I'm looking at this ebay seller's store, he has different brands of trucks. But, the thing that sticks out there are Internationals and Volvo's from different company that have 700-800k average miles with blown Cummin's ISX engines. Read the titles.

Any engine will fail if not taken care of. Don't let those adds scare you away from an ISX. There are lots of blown up Cat and Detroits too.

I wouldn't buy one. Constant issues with the stock holset turbos that they still don't have a fix for. Egr valves, egr coolers, ect ect. I have a buddy with a bunch in his fleet, he is always up on his servicing and such. He just had two catastrophic failures on two trucks both within two weeks of each other. He's really impressed. That's just my opinion. He's had a lot of problems thou!

They have a new turbo since 2010. I also hear they have lot less problem since they use SCR, and they scaled back significantly the use of EGR.

I think I'd take a CAT over a newer Cummins, unless it was an N14.

Got 2 Cummins. One 06 pre emission 475 turned up to 565 and one '12 with 25K on it right now. I like them

First choice is a Series 60. Yes, I'm aware CAT isn't in the market. But, I still think they make a better engine than Cummins. Series 60 is probably one of the more robust engines out there. The 03-07 aren't the best, but 08-10 models are just as good as the previous 2002 and older.

I know, I have '98 detroit with 1.5 million miles. I have had two top and set, other than that, nobody touched the engine yet. But I need a new truck.
