I have read a lot of information here over the years, and have some questions for my owner/operator father (who isnt computer inclined enough to do it himself).

My dad has a 550 hp 6nz Peterbilt that is going strong, but long in the tooth. He was able to get a low mileage 625 acert engine (top end damage due to fire), and is looking into what he can do to use it in place of the 6nz when the time comes.

From my understanding the acert engine will be a lower compression engine, what other differences will there be to look for? He will plan on doing away with the twin turbo, egr, and sourcing any hard parts from the 6nz engine as needed.

I am sure more questions will come up based on the answers given, and thanks in advance.

Definitly not a guru but in my opinion I would try to resell the accert and use the money toward rebuilding the 6nz since it is considered the best electronic engine that Cat has built. I think he'll be alot happier. I'm sure you'll get alot of responses to this.

The Acert are actually higher compression not lower. I agree with puncher, better off to build the 6NZ.

Certainly not disagreeing with the other posts, because they are 100%....BUT...if you wanted a strong, long life engine, build the Acert bottom end. Cut the pistons .080 and use the 6NZ top end. ECM, rocker box, Jakes, turbo, ect. The stock turbo will even do fine, until you start adding ponies...

YEAH WHAT HE SAID. use the bottom end of the acert, but with the 7172 liner kits and put the 6nz top end on her and you will have basically a stroked 6nz. he will be very satisfied.
