Learning a lot from this site. This is our first EGR truck we run on our farm. Truck is a 2007 volvo with a 500 hp ISX. Built in 06. Truck has around 230k miles and I have noticed a Lopey idle and occasionally the coolant is a little low, you add maybe half gallon and warm up and then it's too full.
i am wondering if it has a leaking cooler and other problems. It hasn't given any trouble messages. Bad thing is we are not real close to a volvo dealer.

You would not necessarily need a Volvo dealer unless by chance you have some sort of warranty you purchased through them.

If you cannot nail down the issue with info from this forum, would look for the nearest qualified mechanic with his own shop.
With it being a Cummins, it should not be a problem finding someone closer to your home.

    Something weird happened.....

The ISX would onnly get 4.6 mpgs for the last year. It wouldn't matter how fast I drove. 55, 65, 75 still 4.6mpgs.

Then the transmission bolts broke and the transmission fell out...oops.

After Peterbilt put it all back together, my first chec of mileage was nearly 6.5 mpgs.

'Splain that one to me Lucy.

Clutch, bellhousing, upgraded wiring for the Ultrashift, diveshaft, etc....I can't explain it. If there was that much drag in the driveline to create a mpg loss, there would have been massive heat generation and wear to something.

If all the drag was on 1 point, you would see a heatspot, there you have a valid point.
If it was on several points,i don't know.
Something must have caused the bolts to come lose.
We once had a truck that was shaking itself to breaking point.
Driveshaft was send 3 times to be rebalanced.
    Shaking remained.
New driveshaft was put in,all vibrations were gone, truck was perfect.
So,it is possible your low MPG came from a drag somewhere.
Most likely the driveshaft which also caused the bolts to come lose.(but again you will never klnow for shure)

I have 2008 388 with a new engine egr cooler is new and all sensors are new or so im told. It tells me to regen so i do and it keeps telling me to regen. Would it be correct to assume the dpf is in need of cleaning or replace at this time or might it still be a sensor?

thank you Rawze for your help with this issue. it has been a tremendous blessing. i also saw you r videos and thank you for taking the time out to make them. i pray the Lord will help you in all that you do.

Prior to completing an EGR tune-up i was experiencing power loss, particularly going up hills.after completing the tune-up, everything felt much better but a couple of days later i am again experiencing power loss going up hills. i can hear the engine trying to open up in order to gain power, but then instantly something will cut it back. my question is, will the after treatment injector cause this type of problem? or could changing out the after treatment injector be something that i should do anyway in order to cover all my bases? Every now and then i see white smoke coming out of the stack, i checked the coolant like you said and it has been changed.

Any insights or thoughts would be much appreciated.
