I have an older trk with alot of miles,i was having issues with low oil pressure.two shops later and 4500.00.i took trk to detroit deisel, they put trk on dyno and found the problem, bad hole was bypassing water and oil.went back on shops and explained there mistake,i fell over that both shops were decent and refunded the labor on the work that they thought would cure the problem.
trk would not hold oil pressure once engine got hot, dropped from 45lbs to coding engine........code 45 low oil pressure.chked bearings oil regulater, oil pump..........all replaced.I saved an engine, and is being over hauled by Detroit Diesel.there dyno saved my lunch. We always hear about the bad shops,i have so impressed with Detroit Diesel,,,,,,,,,,kodoos are in order

What do you mean bad hole .. I'm having the same problem I'm already 2900 in the hole and still have the same problem low oil pressure at operating temp
-
He means he had a bad liner/piston I guess. Low oil pressure is rarely a cheap fix. The engines don't have test ports all over to tell where the loss is. Can be hard to pin point the root cause.

usually worn bearings somewhere(((

Already had a oil pump replaced and bearings checked . I had a leaking injector also replace .. Drove the truck 80 miles right back to low oil pressure at a idle , runs just above the red line at idle and about 30 psi at 65 mph

A bad cylinder kit will not cause an oil preasure problem, Period. the contaminates in the oil filter may plug it and lower the preasure, never enough to bring up a code.
Any decent Mechanic will look up at the liners, will see the contaninates on the oil drain plug. When they change the main and Rod bearrings, why have someone check them when they are cheap, checking the oil pump being sure the "O" rings are good on the inlet and outlet. Being sure the sensor is good and acurate. That makes sence.
Just a thought!areelius Thanks this. -
I have oil in my radiator, but no mix in oil.. replaced oil cooler, pressure came right back up.. now, oil still getting in radiator, and oil pressure at 1500 rpms is about 45.. cant figure it out..

In my 15+years in repair business,I have only replaced 2 Series 60 oil coolers for failure.I am pretty sure that 1 of them was not even bad. They are not built like the other engine oil coolers. You have a hole in a liner.Like John said, they should have "looked up"when they had the pan off."The Time"has arrived for your Detroit!Good luck.

what do u mean the time has arrived, it only has 290,000 miles on inframe, could I t be bad air compressor, beings that oil and water go through the compressor
I am hopeing that's all it is. in worst case, I'd settle for a bad head or head gasket. there is white film on filler cap -
I hope you are correct. Have it checked by someone other than place that did in frame. If it happens to be in frame related, they will find any excuse to attribute it to something else.Good luck.I hope it is something easy.
