I think I'd have to do an International, like maybe a steel hood Paystar and put a sleeper on it, and haul heavy equipment.

Now that would be a cool machine. No need to worry about the empty weight either with permit loads.

there was a nice early 80's autocar on ebay last month. nice guy too. I tried to buy it but I hadn't gotten the money for my bike yet so someone else got it, and cheap too. and it was a nice truck.

Personally
359 pete flat top, twin turbo 3408 v8 cat, twin stick 18 speed, pete ow air susp, car hauler axle up front, striped own to the bones with 8" 14 foot tall stacks... straights not angled pipes, little bt of frame stretch with super singles out back and dual- single rear fenders. Painted n some clasic paint scheme but in electric lime green and black just like my jeep

Oh and don't forget the shifters need to scrape the roof! lol

The only thing worth building now, for me, is:

Classic 120" BBC with a 48 flattop sleeper. This means the wheelbase can be around 180" or less.

i like cummins out of all three, so it would probably be the N-14. i would like an allision if possible. If not possible then a 10sp roadranger is good for me.

i would want the stacks behind the sleeper, not in front and i'm not sure if i would want the exterior air cleaner housings.

2) Alternatively, the w-9OO and 388/389 i would spec similarly to above.

FYI cummins tried to build an aluminum engine for KW back in the 40s or 50s maybe with todays technology it may be possible. But unlees this rig was a toy all that would be acomplished is lower rates
