Well this is almost telling me that you want to race that other guy. Let him *whoop you*, and you be the better driver in this situation. This can be a great cause of concern to your company. I would forget about doing anything.

I do understand what you are going through. But, with him going faster he is burning up more fuel, and eventually going to get involved in an accident, which WILL BE speed related. Stay away from this situation, please. I don't think you can ask your employer to bump up the speed, and I'll bet you that if you were to monkey around with anything, you might get fired as well, and that WILL go onto your DAC report, that you Willfully DAMAGED the equipment.

Well, another way to do it would be to talk with the company about the fairness issue and have HIM shut down to 65mph as well. I can see why you would be mad there...everytime I would see him pass me I would be fuming as he smiled, LOL. Are you two leased on there or does the company own both trucks? If the company owns both trucks, tell them either they are fair or you are gone, simple.

The more I think about that, the more mad I get...amazing your other company driver treats you that way and has the nerve to flat out screw you. I do not blame you for being mad and I would, personally, be in his face saying he's a ...well I can't say it here.

You could leave another 30 minutes or an hour earlier to ensure you got there first.

Outside of that, I don't see anything you can do about it other than getting a faster truck. If it is your truck, I see no reason you can't get it to a shop to have the speed increased though.

Are the trucks the same other than speed, I'm pretty sure, although not absolutely sure that your truck is governed out at 65. If they have the same engine and gearing, they should be capable of the same speed. My truck is a 2001 with a Detroit and it is governed out at 75 but it does a little better, the speedometer is off a little on the low side. The truck is a light load special, 2.62 rear end, that is severely misused hauling chickens, and is in the shop again, the motor is doing great so far, though.

Seriously, you could try leaving earlier, but I expect the other guy would also leave earlier just to keep his advantage. It might be a thing about seniority, or like my coworkers tell me, "The boss just likes me better." Unless your company has more than two trucks, I doubt they use DAC, but the company should fix the speed thing not the driver.

Some trucks are only geared to do 65 mph, it might be that is the case with yours, and changing things to improve that probably isn't in the cards.

BTW the first truck I drove wasn't governed out and I never felt the need to see what it would really do. I did set the cruise at 80 once to see if it would, but the road was deserted and smooth. I have a fairly fast truck, but I allow others to pass me with slower ones, I don't get caught up in Class 8 racing. There are times when it's OK to go fast and others when it's not.
