    Used 389 Glider Value?
I am looking at purchasing a 2011 389 glider, lots of chrome, 48" flat top, full load with nav, new michelins, super 40s, 6nz set at 625 with 190,000 miles on complete overhaul, truck has 800,000 miles. Truck is white, 8" straights, drop visor, full fenders, etc, etc.. Absolutely mint! I know the owners of the truck and it has been meticulously maintained. What do you think this truck is worth? I just dont know what it is worth because there arent ever any for sale. I am located in Sask, Canada. Sorry, this is also posted in the peterbilt forum but was not getting any replies.

    Is 800,000 miles correct? That's a lot of miles on a 2011.

Yeah that is correct, truck runs 6-7 days a week.. Dedicated 1000 mile run, so racks up the miles. Miles are whats been holding me back on it a bit, but if price is right and with lots of rebuilt components Id pick it up. I know what asking price is, just wanted to see what you guys think first.

Have you seen original dealer paperwork for rebuild? Not a copy? Was it a premium rebuild ? No and no? No way for 80k.

In my book it hasn't been done unless I see original, dated paperwork . Dealer paperwork is worth more than outside shop too.

I just can't get there either, 80k for 800k ? I see a Pete premium in there. Go ahead and price a 2011 with 300k for comparison. Bet you'll find it in the same price area. I just think your dollar will go much further elsewhere. Try to ignore the stacks and visors, the chicken lights and buy what makes the money, the lower half of the truck.

    Good luck

Prices are sky high on non dpf/def trucks..... But with those miles it's a little to much.

They are asking $108,000cdn (roughly $100,000 usd). Gliders are worth a lot more then emissions trucks up here but price is obviously too much. Cat platinum rebuild with papers, however since it was rebuilt under original 4 yr warranty there is very little warranty remaining, as they dont add warranty on top of warranty.

Cat would have rebuilt the minimum if it was a rebuild under warranty, and as you said, no extra warranty on the thing anyways, so write it off.
Not sure why glider trucks are commanding that premium in price, when they are cheaper than a normal new truck when they themselves are new. As a rule, they cost UP TO 75% of the cost of a brand new OEM truck, so why pay more when used? Makes no financial sense to me, and I I certainly would never pay more for something that cost less when it was new.....Not to mention the iffy warranty at times for the motor. For a little more, you can get a brand new glider yourself, so why bother going that route anyways?

In canada gliders are more then new trucks, gliders can not be imported in to canada any more. They need to be sent here in pieces and assembled once across the border. Trust me I got MANY quotes. Everything is right around $200,000 cdn. I have lived the emissions nightmare, and am trying to avoid another.
