2007 cummins isx throws on a check engine light here and there ... No faults get thrown on the Roadrelay .... Seems to be no pattern of when it's on or off ... Is on probably about 50 percent of drive time ... Always off at an idle ... Anyone have had this kind of thing happen on their isx? Runs strong with or without light and fuel mileage seems to be unaffected .... I wouldn't worry about it but am tired of looking at that yellow light ... Thanks

If you take it to someone that has Cummins insite they can plug into it and will be able to tell you what fault code keeps getting set.

If you have a diagnostic switch turn it on when the light is on and it will display the code (a series of flashes of the check engine light and the stop engine light in the cluster). Then you can find what that code is here: http://www.diesel-service-parts.com/cummins-isx-codes.html
If you don't have the switch then is time to see Insite.

    kwswan Thanks this.

On the flip side of that coin, those electronics are letting you know a condition exists now, rather than leaving you to find out the hard way once it's too late.

Cummins will only flash active codes, which makes it useless for an intermittent code that isn't active when you check. You'll need to find someone with Insite. Here's how you use the Dignostic switch:

Cummins: Will only show active faults.
    1. Turn key off.
    2. Flip diagnostic switch.
    3. Turn key on.
    a. If no active fault codes are recorded, both lights will come on and stay on.

    b. If active fault codes are recorded, both lights will come on momentarily then begin to flash the code of the recorded in the following sequence:
    i. First, a WARNING (amber) light will flash

ii. Then there will be a short one or two second pause after which the 3 digit number of the recorded fault code will flash in STOP (red).

iii. There will be a one or two second pause between each number. iv. When the number has finished flashing in red, an amber light will appear again. v. The lights flash each fault code out three times before advancing to the next code.
