I have a 2006 freightliner with the 515 detroit with a 10 sp meritor transmission but its maxed at 1550 torque.my question is how hard/difficult/expensive would it be to switch to a eaton trans with a 13 sp with 1650 but 1850 torque preferably.

should bolt right to the bellhousing, your drive shaft will need to be shortened,,

If trucks not on warranty.. You should be able to get a shop to turn up torque if you sign a waiver as long as you don't abuse it , tranny will live awhile if it's currently healthy.. There are a lot of guys pushing 300 to 500 ft/lbs over what their tranny is rated for and having no issues, it's all based on the driver

I was told by detroit that it would need remapped (fuel) and that since it was at the 1550 max torque they wont supply the remap for it..I had it on the computer and its locked at 1550 at all available hp levels

maybe you need to take it to some other person an turn it way up

So the only thing I have to change is the driveshaft? Nothing wiring or electrical involved? So I assume I need a 13 sp tran, newinput shaft, new clutch, driveshaft and computer upgraded, is that it or am I missing something..also, does it have to be a specific 13 sp or can any go in
