I know of a young man who found an old werner cabover in a field somewhere near Liberal Mo. The guy told him if could get it out of the field he could have it. He spent months redoing that thing. Rebuilt CAT, 13 speed, new gauges, redid the interior, rebuilt the rear ends, etc etc. Had it repainted and pulled a Great Dane reefer with it. You can say what you want about them but that was and maybe still is one SHARP KW 100. Haven't seen him in a few years but that truck and trailer got your attention. I would go back to driving one in heart beat if necessary. Just wishful thinking about the days when it was FUN to drive a truck!!!

Love the look of the long nose trucks here, but man did i love driving Scanias. Have they ever been introduced here? I know they make a long nose version but not with a big sleeper.

Here is one

The only reason they ever built cabover highway trucks was to meet overall length restrictions and they carried more weight on the steering axles.

Cabovers became obsolete when they changed overall length restrictions and started building conventionals with setback front axles.

Getting to the motor on a cold day can be very troublesome when the jacking hydraulics start acting up. One more thing you have to spend money on when it breaks.

I had some good cabovers back in the mid seventies and they were good trucks for what they were...But I'm real glad that they're not necessary anymore.

Gettin' rid of those rough riding, cramped, noisy, ugly trucks is one of the good things that has happened to trucking in my opinion.

I've seen some really nice ones in the last year or so...There's a white and black KW on a long wheelbase that was pulling a bullrack that I saw in Iowa a few months ago that looked really good and was obviously the guys pride and joy and I can respect that kind of dedication but, I'm still glad that I don't have to drive one anymore!

I still love the old COE's. I have always had a thing for them, maybe I'm crazy but I would love to run one again. I like the old 352 Pete myself.

What's really funny is the day before this thread was made I took this picture and sent it to a friend. What a POS, I'd almost rather drive a Volvo.

I'm a bit of a cabover junky, but I live and drive in the metro northeast. Spring rides aren't fun, airrides are a bit better, but if you think those ride hard, go spend 70 hours or so in a fixed-axle fixed-seat yard horse and get back to me .
