I had my speed turned up to 76 MPH and made some changes to the power settings. It took 15 minutes and cost 50 dollars. My company had to call Peter-built to get the passwords. I was trying to make the same point about the cost. It would be a lot cheaper to just have a reputable shop make the changes.

software is so expensive and some of the soft ware that is available to fleet owners and or third party service centers do not have the ability to acess tha part of the system, as many mentioned in these engine ecus are password protected, and it is that password that unlocks the features in the software.

I believe it would be cheaper in the long run to just take it to qualified or certified shop that can set it up correctly and cheaper than 3000 dollar s/w with hardware. and that would be some example cost for detroit engine to tune it. by a do it yourselfer, weight it out spend maybe 100 dollars to a shop that has the ability to do it, or pay above $2500 to do it yourself.

Not quite true:
My leased Pete387 with a cat c-13 with 435hp was limited to 70mph at my request. it was so underpowered it was embarrassing, it would cruise at 70mph on the flat at 1450 revs. i got the speed limit taken off completely and now i cruise at 70 at 1350 revs so i actually save fuel and i get an extra run at the hills so i save fuel going up them too. My mpg have gone from 6.7 to 7.1 since the limit was taken off. I'm still going to get the hp boosted up to 470.
