Yeah, i know all about the more bad news (HAHA) motor, since thats what is under my hood, but it has been worked extensivley. I hated the 30psi boost cut, and the valve on the fuel filter housing controlling the boost, everytime i got into the mountains it would fluctuate boost so bad it was ridiculous.

I even tried to sell my hot 6NZ ecm with trim codes, 2300rpm program, and FLS set to 127. No dice, they are all scared to mess with the motor.

550hpW900L,
If you're referring to me not taking you up on the offer, I thought you had mentioned in a previous post that you really didn't care to part with it.
I also have a friend whose older ('01, I think) Pete w/550 broke the crank. He found and bought a complete engine out of a wreck, and has the other for parts. I'm trying to contact him to see if he'll part with the ecm, turbo, and injectors, if (big IF) they're compatible with my motor, and if (big IF), he'll part with the goodies.
I'm sure you have already figured out that I'm not real educated in this area. I would just like to have a better pulling truck, making decent MPG. I'm also a little concerned that the setup you have may be too much for my tranny (1600 fpt).

I appreciate, and thank you for sharing your knowledge, and experience so that I may crawl out from "under the bridge" (pun intended", and may still have to contact you if my friend doesn't care to part with his stuff, or if the parts aren't compatable.

Once again, many thanks!

One furthur question if I may,
You apparently know someone whom is able to modify the 6NZ ecm; What I want to know is if a bridge ecm couldn't also be modified? I realize that it's probably illegal, but wouldn't putting a modified 6NZecm on a bridge motor also be illegal?
By illegal, I'm referring to EPA specs, and I'm not challenging anyone, just asking a question.

droy,

I was not refering to you but some local friends, i was never pushing anything for sale on anybody. Yes the injectors and ecm of a 6NZ will work and drop right in, if i was you i would snatch the camshaft as well. The turbo is most likley the same unless you have 435hp or less. I would put a older 3406E 550hp turbo on anyways compared to a C-15, the C-15 has a tiny exhaust housing and is known to crack the center divider causing high exhaust temps, poor fuel millage and power.

Dont worry about the 1650 trans, i have a 1850 18 speed and im propably pushing 2600+lbs of torque through it.

I sold one of my C-15 ecms to a fellow friend on another forum, i still have a hot ecm but it may be to much for your liking (power wise), i would snatch your buddies ecm and slap it right on without hesitating, you dont even need to swap injectors or turbo, just go for the ecm first.

Cool low nox and lost good codes

Hello to all
New here and saw thread and hope I can get some help here.
took my 6ts to CAT and got screwed with this NOX 550 codes.
Truck was 475hp from factory but was taken by orignal owner to a Michigan cat deal and had new inj codes put in 5232 and had new fls and fts codes put in wich are also marine codes.
truck runs like poop high exhaust temps, lost 10lbs of boost and no way to get codes back.
looking for a ecm that has not been to CAT and got the Low NOX screwing.
Started this ordeal with upgrading to 550hp chasing lost mpg. If I would have been told about low nox I would have never let CAT touch it,Old flash code @475 with marine codes was getting 6.5 to 7.2 mpg and would run circles around this POS 550 low nox flash file.
Any how looking for an old E model 6ts ecm or a upgrade to this ecm.
Thanks Tom

Best bet is to find a new ecm, good thing is you have a 40pin ecm and those are easy to find and cheap.

Do you know what they set the FLS and FTS to? Reason why it runs like crap is because you dont have enough turbo for the fuel thats being thrown at the motor, causing high exhaust temps. CAT has new low nox files now and they are pretty good, good millage and great response, take it to a shop and have them flash the newest files in the ecm, also if you tell them you want the FLS changed they might do it for free, since its "illegal" for them to mess with the orginal 550 programing, and they will set it to stock.

But let me know what the FLS and FTS #'s are if ya can.

Thanks for the reply 550hp W900L,
Turbo is brand new stage 3 high flow from Michigan turbo, Michigan turbo told me it is able to produce 70 lbs of boost, Air to Air is also brand new high flow capable of 100 lbs of boost before splitting open.
The fls fts codes in it now are 18fls -6fts,, Old ones before cat got hold of it was 35fls / -6fts with the 5232 inj codes. Truck was in dayton KW shop twice wich is the ones who screwed it up to begine with, and last week it was to Ohio Cat and was told 496.00 for the bill and there is nothing we can do for it.
I think the problem is old #'s was marine codes and made a LOT more hp then these new 550hp low NOX files will make.
Thanks
PS when do you want me to bring it to Michigan, LOL

Yeah the new files are nothing like the old files. The FLS is pretty much stock 550hp setting. The trim codes are the hot codes. Guess the only reason it runs like crap is due to the low nox programming. If you have a shop that can mess with FLS and FTS have them set the FLS to 127 and FTS to 0. You will be a happy camper, you have enough turbo for it, with those numbers and the 5232 trim codes it will be good for 750hp...... Since you have a 40pin ecm CAT has special puller programs for them, but you have to sign a piece of paper that the truck is for off road use only lol. I know of 2 guys with these programs running on the street and they get very good millage and run very cool on the exhaust.

As far as MI turbo I have their stage 5, i maxed out the stage 3, wouldnt flow enough for the fuel im pushing.

Bring it up anytime!
