Damn, this Alzheimer's is terrible, I forgot to ask, can a stock ACERT manifold be ported to increase flow? That would avoid violating the warranty and make it run better... no one would know - except you guys

it doesn't matter it's not the manifold it is the small turbo housings that are the problem. you can put the biggest manifold but the turbo's will still choke it down. they use the small turbo's to increase spool up, reducing turbo lag which in turn makes the motor run cleaner

yes, high flow manifolds are available. They are polished using an extrusion method and can be done to your stock manifold or an aftermarket one. They are $1200+ for a tiny reduction in backpressure before the turbo. They are usually only cost effective if you have a cracked manifold to begin with and need it replaced.

The grand rock is not a true "straight through" muffler. It's high flow alright but it has an Archimedes screw type design on the inside and is nothing like the muffler out of Pittsburgh. (they have a picture of it cut in half in their catalog)

Dont bother porting the stock manifold. Leave it AS IS untill the warranty runs out. A cheap single turbo set up would be a 6NZ C-15 ECM, B model manifold and a good flowing single turbo (i know of a few). FOr now just get the harnesses and truck it.

A ACERT can get 6.2mpg, they are good motors, for a emissions friendly motors after 04 i dont think you can beat a ACERT. You can play with them a good amount, but porting the manifold is a waste on them, like freddie said full tilt sells ported stockers for $1200!!!!!!! You can get a stock 3406B manifold for $100-300 on ebay and still outflow the ported full tilt manni by about 400cfm!!!!

The 3406B ports are almost twice the size of the C-15.

The grand rocks for a W9 set up IS straight thru.

The drop in type of muffler are the screw types, not the OEM replacement for a W9.

I thought we were talking about mufflers but if your talking about the KW-ACUP then your right...that piece of 5" bent pipe is straight through. I stand corrected

no, he is talking about the under sleeper replacement muffler they have. not the bypass tube and not the in stack muffler.

Personally I don't know if it is straight through or not, it's higher flow then stock and allot cheaper then the one pittsburg sells and why would you want to spend all that money on the straight through pitsburg unit to put behind a corked up twin turbo cat??? the obstruction is the turbos so you won't gain much if any from mufflers or manifolds
