Hey, I'm a new guy here and seen you was talking about that Pittsburgh Power Box. I know a guy who put one on his 550 Cat and ended up having to put a bigger radiator, turbo, air cooler, and exhaust on it and still can't turn it all the way up! Sounds like this harness is a good deal.

The harness is in no way comparable to the box, Freddy dont take this the wrong way, but the pitts box is for someone who wants short bursts of power, you cant run it on #7 all the time or you WILL score the cylinders. The box builds a lot of heat, no manifold or turbo will help to keep the EGTs down. I have personally seen 3 motors killed on a dyno running the box.

Now for someone who wants a 100hp gain and 1mpg its a great product but its not safe to operate at full power since it retards timing so far back that it just keeps building and building EGTs

Jerry is one hell of a guy, he is actually building a turbo for Kurt Murray for his C-16, once he get her done i will most likley snatch one up as well.

Agent as far as extrude honing the exhaust housing Freddy hit the nail on the head.

The box was never ever designed to be run on power level 7 on the highway. That’s why the red LED warning light starts flashing when your running high. Power level 7 is for pulling ONLY and even then on trucks that already have been modified to handle the extra fuel. For highway operation you should never go above 4. If you want economy never go past 3
Many of the aftermarket parts we sell like our turbo were in response to because repeated OEM failures just like 550 described. Our box can only be turned up all the way if you have our turbo that have been tested to handle the fuel. It came to a point in the design cycle that we were considering derating the powerbox because drivers can't seem to resist the temptation to hammer down on 7 but that would be unfair to those that need that power for competitions and marine applications.

I hope I don’t get accused of “pushing” the box again. I’m not in sales I’m in product development and no one here makes commission. We believe in what we do and that’s what motivates us.

Yes a lot of guys run truck pulls with them as they wont hurt the motor for the short period they are under that power. But try going up a hill on #7 on the highway for a few minutes and you are done. Pittsburgh is doing alot of great things now for the electronic CATs and other motors, like ECMs, injectors, turbos..... Soon to be anyway, i am very interested in the turbo that Jerry Ray cooks up!!!!

I've heard about guys doing that and also heard about guys dragracing them. Just didn't figure they'd pay all that money just to use during pulls.
