It wont hurt the motor, it just makes it run like cold fuel CAT, but you are right i wouldnt do this if i still had warranty.

If you wanna see unsafe, my first truck was a 379 with a B model CAT, big turbo, reflowed nozzles, and bottomed out fuel screws on the pump and advanced injector timing....... 841hp on the dyno and surprisingly it lasted over a million before it needed anything done, sold it to a friend later and hes still runing that very set up..... But those mechanical motor were so much easier...... Good times
I ran quite a few 425's set up fairly similar to that. The 359 I have now has a big cam 4 in it. I just love the way they drive.

I must say im not a fan of cummins and i have had some real bad experience with the N14, and got kinda screwed by cummins. But i have driven a K series and i must say it put a smile on my face. It was a KTA600 with twin turbos, flowed injectors and tweaked pump, i bet that thing was putting out 1500hp if not better.......... Man this thread went off topic

A friend of a friend has a 97 FL with a CAT, well over a million miles. He is running a Pittsburg box and runs it on the high setting all the time. He is thinking it has to blow any day now but it keeps on running.

I've always been a cat guy but they were alays the mechanical cats. I havn't been real impressed with the electronic cats I have had. We always rtionalized the high repair costs with the longevity of the the cat but the new ones don't seem to be lasting any longer than the other motors. Look a t truck paper and see how many of them with 600k have been inframed already.
I must say though I really enjoy driving this big cam. It smokes like a sob untill it gets warm but other than that it runs good, it may burn a bit of oil too but most the cummins that haven't been converted to the later LPF liners do. ANd you can't beat the price of the parts. I don't trust other people work though (especialy after seeing the rest of the truck) so I will rebuild this motor as soon as possible even if it doesn't seem to need it.

I hear that MedicineMan, i do everything myself, i hate others touching my truck.... I like the electronic CATs over the B myself. You cant beat the low end torque. Ive had 2 3406E's, hell still got the one, and this is my first C15. I never had problems, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Problem with drivers out there is they are running them really hot, if i see my gauge move to 200*F water i flip the manual fan switch, most guys wait for the automatic and on a hot 110*F day climbing mountains that is way to late. For example the fan on my KW is set to 218*F!!! that is way to late, from my experience 220*F on a E model CAT your gonna be doing injector cup O rings after a a few months. But i have never had issues with mine, i love the power and the reliability they give me both of my E models were way over 1 million, the one i have now has 1,262,000 and it has not been inframed, has no blow by. Im expecting the same out of my C15.

caterpillar power harness from platinum performance

Man. I didnt know these things were so popular. I bought one from those guys down in atlanta (platinum performance). I run these on all 7 of my trucks. They sell this power pack which basically hooks into my fuel sensor and my boost.

I aint botherin with those pittsburgh power boxes because they could affect the life of my engine and they are costly. My buddy runs these in colorado and gets 4/10 to 5/10 mile gains in fuel. I really noticed the difference when I got these harnesses from those guys down in atlanta. they call their system the platinum power pack. I would check em out. The platinum performance harness does the same thing at a lower cost than the Pittsburgh Power box.

First trip out with both harnesses and i must say i can definetly feel the power, only thing i see so far that most people might dislike, not me haha, is it smokes like a B model, and smokes at idle a bit too. So far i love it, instant throttle response, no more turbo lag, seems to do a bit better on fuel but ill see when i hit the mountains, and the power difference is definetly noticable!
