The twin turbo accert is a good motor, up to 07 before they put all the emission #### on it, they are reliable, power and millage on them are not to great though.

This is what i like about the accert's, its a 14.6 block with a 15.8 crank making it a 15.2, yes its a C16 crank basically stroking a C15 14.6L. The rod journals are wider on the crank though to accept a wider rod, they have 4 bolt rod caps, one piece pistons, and the compression is lower, they can take power and boost, the 625hp runs 62-65psi of boost stock!

Heres what i dont like, the hydraulic fuel injection (vva), they had problems with rocker arms in the early BXS motors, the exhaust housings on them are way to small, they run way to much back pressure at the manifold, i bet its more than double of the boost pressure.

Now here my solution to the accert if i had one, i would do this. Put a C15 6NZ ecm on it or if i can a 7CZ C16 ecm would be even better, 6NZ C15 CAT cylinder head with rocker arms, reason for this to get rid of the vva and holes in the head for oil for the injectors, it needs to be done but last time i priced a head it was $1900 new, put a older 3406E 1LW camshaft in it the cam has a longer duration on the injectors over the newer C15 and exhaust lobes, 3406B 425hp exhaust manifold, with either a michigan turbo stage 3 or 5 turbo. This engine would make 650hp to the tires now, have insane amounts of torque do to the longer stroke and get very good millage, put a fuel temp and boost wire, set the trim codes to 5232 and have some fun. This would be a pricey conversion but if i were to overhaul the engine, which i do myself, i would do this.

Now a bridge engine, all that needs to be done to make it run like a older CAT is a 6NZ C15 ecm and remove the mufflers, millage and power will go WAAAAAAAY UP!

Stopped by independent (former Cat) mechanic & told him of results of visit to KW dealer; he suggested couple of things before the turbo & injector swap. (1) R&R turbo boost senser (2) pinch off wastegate hose (3) check supply pump pressure

Opened hood to do the cheapest first, and found wastegate hose cracked, dryrotted, brittle, broken almost in two in several places, wondering if that would cause wastegate to be in constant dump mode? Have a 7:00 p/m load appt. this evening, so I'll find out then.
A $5.00 hose sounds to cheap to solve MY problems, but you know the saying about the sun shining on a dogs butt.

The MBN motor, which is what is under my hood but severely modified, is a good motor but not in stock form. If yours is set to 475hp you dont need injectors or turbo, CAT mechanic is full of sht.

1st of all DO NOT pinch the wategate hose on a bridge.

2nd of all DO NOT run the boost wire on the bridge.

3rd of all get you a fuel temp wire on it for some real power

Here is why, the bridge motor has a boost cut to 30psi, if it sees more it derates the motor pretty bad untill boost gets below 25psi.

The bridge wont go to any more than 525hp and 1850 torque as a cat setting. This is what you need to do to it to make it run. Get a older 6NZ C15 ecm and remove the mufflers, the mufflers have catalytic converters in them and make it run like ####, thats why your pryo runs so hot.

Your engine will go to 525hp without a turbo or injector swap but you have to pay a hefty fine to the EPA which i last heard was around 1800$ plus 900$ for the flash. You can get a used 6NZ ecm for $600 bux and have it run like a CAT should for way less. I might be able to get you one, i really dont want to part with the one i have as a spare.

Does your boost fluctuate pretty bad?

Amen "brotha" I still like my ACERT specially when I get 6.75 to 7.0 MPG's after a few mods (2 harness and muffler swap) .
not bad when i got a little over 450000 trouble free miles on it.

First i would pull the ecm file #'s and make sure it is set to 550. Whats the boost on the 550? Also if you been to CAT its propably their great new emissions software they put in the ecm. Heres what id do check and make sure it is set to 550, and set the injector trim codes to 5232 on all injectors, get a fuel temp and boost sensor harness and you will be pleased.

Thanks, i will try that are the harnesses that yaw are talking about are they any good? my boost gets up to around 27 but you hit a hill and i want pull and if you hold it the pyro starts to rise so you have to get out of it it normally runs around 900-950 degrees till you hit the hills i will order the harnesses and get the codes checked out and i will get back to you and let you know how it doing

How hot will it get on the hills? You are safe up to 1200*F. The C15 was known to crack the divider in the exhaust housing in the turbo, if it is thats what is propably causing it to run so hot. Mine will get to 1100*F but i have almost double the power.

It should see 29-30psi as well, the harnesses will definetley help you out, if you can have someone set the injector trim codes to 5232 on it you will be pleased.

Yeah not just any shop will set those codes for you. I've heard that KW and CAT will not do it.
