Repair Shop Rip OFF........

We had a full in frame done on the truck in October, by a authorized Cummins Dealer.

Last week, hubby had an injector go bad in the truck. He was in Texas at the time. So he contacted a repair shop about the injector. He made them call our dealer, to make sure that the repair would be covered under the warranty.

The shop misrepresented himself as an AUTHORIZED Cummins Dealer to our Dealer, over the phone. Our dealer faxed him the information on the warranty, and he did the repair, charged us for the injector and the repair and then told my husband to take the receipt to our dealer, to get the refund from Cummins.

We just got done talking with our dealer, who called Cummins, and the repair shop that did the repair was NOT an authorized Cummins dealer. So we are out the money for the repair.

Lesson learned, from now on we will call Cummins, and get an authorized dealer from them, to do the repairs.

How much was the repair? I suspect about $2500 to $3000
You say the repair work was done in Texas, where do you live?
It MIGHT be possible to file suit to recover the repairs (FRAUD). If you live in Texas, you can file locally, if not, you might be able to file in Municipal Superior Court in YOUR State for about $250 with-out a lawyer. Chances are, if you are filing against an out-of-state shop, they won't even answer the suit, and you will get a default. Collecting is another thing.

We are in Nebraska, so you are right, it will be tough to get the money back. It wasn't quite as much as you stated, but its really not the money, but the principle behind it. KWIM???

I absolutely hate business that are dishonest.

I faxed them a demand for the money for the repair as well as the injector, because if we send the injector in, we still get the warranty on it.

I'm also going to look at filing a bbb complaint against them. And we will take this to court, if we have to. This guy flat lied to our dealer. Not cool in my book.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with the repair shop. Two out of the three Cummins facilities that I stopped by one the way out to CO and back to Indiana from CO were very nice and helped me and my co worker with anything that we needed. The other shop, one in which we do a lot of business with was very rude to us. These are all Cummins "Distributorships" as Cummins calls them and I work for Cummins which I think helped a lot. What model engine is in your truck if you don't mind me asking?

I had a brake chamber replaced at KW. Less than two weeks later it fails and I got that one replaced at Sapp Brothers on a weekend because KW was not open.

Monday when KW opened I called them and asked them what they were going to do about it. They stated to bring the defunct brake can in and they would file for replacement cost. (no labor) Took forever but KW finally paid for the parts.

Good luck on getting the other shop to pay up.

Well, our guy that did the initial work, called them again, and supposedly the guy is cutting us a check for the full amount.

Because this guy misrepresented himself to OUR Cummins dealer, he knows that he's in HOT water.

I guess now we wait and see, but I'm hopeful that this will get resolved.

I almost forgot to update this, since I was sick. The guy refunded us the full amount last week. So all is good.

Yeah, not sure if he was nice, or scared. Our repair shop pretty much let him have it over the phone.
