Freightliner Wont Shut Off Please Help

Hi, I have a 2003 Freightliner columbia and when I turn the truck off and take the key out it just keeps running. I have to put the key back in and turn it on and off until it finally shuts down. It has a detroit diesel engine and is stock. Nothing special. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences like this or knows where i should start looking to figure out what is keeping the truck running? What could cause the truck to keep running with no key in it? Thanks to all who look.

I had this problem with my 97 FL Classic. Turned out to be a wiring problem. The truck's previous owner had wired up chicken light switches into the same relay as the ignition. If I shut off the chicken lights, the engine would shut off.
