you start asking questions that require opinions and we are all in trouble!! lol

I thought the one Brckmann mentioned looked good but I hadn't heard of it untill he posted about it. That's not saying much though.
Brick, don't you like the thermo king one, I forget the name

I was going to go with a Tripack because there is a dealer here. Until I found out about PonyPack. They claim to be the ORIGINAL APU, and have been around since 88. I've talked to the owner several times. He used to be a O/O.
The reason I want to go with his brand is that it integrates into the existing HVAC and most all of the rest do not. I don't see any need to add that extra weight and double the AC and heat system.

I have a Blackrock and though it works well, it's really loud! I think it's louder than most refer's I've heard. It's also heavier than the Pony Pack and TriPac.
Our company uses all three but all the new trucks we get, they are putting tripacs on them. Smaller and quieter and seem to work just as well.
Good luck.

What's the price on a pony pack? Is it something I could install myself?

From their website they say $7000.
As for installation they also say that any one of general mechanic ability can install one. I plan to with the help of my neighbor. The only thing we can't do is the draw down and recharge of the AC. I'll have to pay a shop to do that for me.
Their website is real easy, ponypack. You know all the other good stuff to add in order to get there.
