Pyrometer's takin a dump????

Hope this is the general location to ask this. All of a sudden my Pyro is actin retarded. It doesn't seem to want to register more than 300 degrees in a pull, at idle and just flatland crusin it cools down to almost 0 degrees. I don't remember ever breakin one before, and am thinkin it's got to be fairly easy to fix, either the Pyrometer itself is done, or the part that goes into the turbo is toast, can't remember what that part is called. Like I said think this should be easy ta figure but thought I'd ask you guys before I dove in or called the mech. Thanx

pyrometer

More than likely the problem may be that you have a bad sending unit,It is generaly located on the exhaust pipe just after the turbo,Itl be a screw-on sending unit. They run about $75 depending where you get it at.Hope that cures it.

Depends on the truck. KW wants about twice that for theirs.

call pete for a price, get the part number then google it and you can find it for a third the price.

I'd kill for a 444. Oh and you can't just "pump up" a cummins without wearing out the cam lobes because of the increased preure. the cummins is a PT pump. unlike the cat which pumps a set amount to each injector at the precise time, the cummins pump build preure then the injectors are fired off the cam. If you turn the pump up it dramatically increases the seat presure unless you also have the injectors opened up.

I dunno but I can't keep thermocouple bungs in this petercar I'm in now. Its burning them up! But the Pyrometer isn't reading that high. Its melting them down on one side, I guess.... thats the only thing I can figure!

they never do last too long it seems. sucks because they arn't cheap either.
you may ned to find a source that carries a different brand, they may be using cheap stuff where you are getting them from.

The old cumins are not air to air like the cats. they use a water to air cooler internally if I'm not mistaken. I'm still learning my cummins. Always had cats before. Why do you ask that though?
