The company i work for went with Mack a few years back, the first batch of trucks were so bad they had to get a couple of penske trucks to cover for the ones that were in the shop all the time. The penske freightshakers had big detroits in them so i snatched one up and drove it until early this spring till the lease ran out and the new trucks came in. They bought some more new Mack's, i think they're ch613's, although I've haven't been enthused enough to verify that. These are 08 emission equipped, daycabs with the f-7, 395hp engine. Inside the truck they made alot of changes for the better compared to the older ones. It's a comfortable truck to drive, although i notice more and more rattles as the miles go up. With the wind blowing the right way, you get in another trucks draft the truck will buck back and fourth so bad you either have to back off or pass. Speaking of the wind, we have what is known around the yard as a "Mack advisory" any winds over 15mph will hold these trucks back and most of us haul around 15 to 25K in the box. With less than 20K on the clock it's been in the shop 3 times, leaving me along side the road once. I spoke with one of the mechanics about the problems and his answer was "it is what it is" One thing i will give them is they get good mileage, avg 6-6.5. These may not be OTR trucks, and granted with 395hp you can only expect so much, but these are problems i never had with the freightshaker. It has almost come to the point to get back in my W9 and drive OTR again. I'm getting tired of looking at that dogs rear end.

Me talking all that crap?

Excuse me, but weren't you the one who started this whole thread?

Was it not you with your posts that Mack is the best think out there?

Don't get all pissy at me when you are just upset that you thought you were king because you paid off you Mack early. I was just speaking the truth when I said I own my Pete and trailer OUTRIGHT.

How does it feel to be almost forty and have (more than one) twenty year old have better grammar, better trucks, and better business skills than you!

Get off your high horse man.

I drove Macks for years when I worked for Chemical Leaman. They weren't the most comfortable trucks to drive but they got the job done. Pulling 47,000 lbs of sloshy liquid across I 80 in PA in 1988 with a one stack mack with a window in the back on a Reyco suspension weas not a fun trip. You had to wear your seatbelt just to stay in the seat.

They don't even make Macks anymore. They are Volvos now. No more R models, RD, DM, RB, or Superliners.

672 cubic inch blocks are long gone.

Mack has gone the way of Autocar and all the other good vocational trucks.

Mack

The reason you don't see any on the road is becouse they perform better off-road , the company i'm with had about 25, 2004's running on regular road runs and kept breaking down,I've got a cousin that runs about 35 tanker trailers that provide a service for the oil industry and just loves MACK'S he would'nt even consider buying anything else,They ara a GRUNT truck that works better under severe conditions.

reply to the skunk

Flight of the Old Dog was published in 1987 if your bio is correct you would have been two years old. The book is a fictional novel,I said iI had read it when i was in school not that it was a nonfiction history book. I recomend all of Dale Browns books. ExampleS are the silver tower, day of the cheetah, night of the hawk and so on. Point two I'm not an internet freak and don't know the etiquette, ie, capitalizing equals shouting on the internet.....I shift gears and drag tarps not type for a living and it's simply easier to not worry about the bs.Point three, I like my Mack, it works for me.Don't drive one buy one or even look at one do I care not on your life.Just keep your opinion about MY truck to yourself and I want have a reason to slamm you bub. Point four I waited for ten minutes for your reply.....after that I went to bed because there was no excitment to keep my attention. I think that that was pretty cowardly....I simply went by what you had in your bio, birthday, age and occupation. STUDENT does not impress me .That you are in school and learning a trade does IMPRESS me for I haven't seen to many people your age who impressed me. If your bio is correct along with your rantings that would have made you 14 when you started driving with your Dad I suppose. That's fine nothing wrong with that,GOD knows I never had a better teacher and friend than my Dad. However that is not solo driving. Good Luck

Get off your high horse man.

Amen to that brother!

He was starting to piss me off so bad last night, I wanted to ask him if he had a scalpel. If he asked why, I would tell him it's to surgically remove my foot from his ### for being such a p***k.

I'm not here to impress anyone and I don't give a damn about what anybody else think's of me. I'm not stuck on a high horse. You either like me or you don't. It's simple. Don't get me wrong, I like the ol' bulldog's so I'm not trashing on them but coming up saying your's is better than everyone else's isn't the way to go.

How was my not replying cowardly? While I kept this window open I went on and read and replied to other post's in other places on this site. I may not be new to the trucking industry but yes, I am a newbie to doing it for myself for a living and I have no shame in that game. You were in the same boat along with every other person here who drive's. Everybody's got to start somewhere.

I'm not raggin' on anyone's truck. I have my preference, you have your's and so does everyone else so we'll leave it at that. I can cool with you or I can be a total #######. That's up to you. This is a brother hood of people who all do the same job just as each truck in the end is only a name because they all do the same job.

Yes, you are right about the novel. I got the copy I have from my real dad when I was younger and read it I don't know how many time's.

Now, where does everyone stand on this situation?

And now I've got another infraction because of this BS. That's great.

Doesn't matter. You still can't do that.

Frankly, this pissing match has gone on long enough. I'm locking this one down.
