I speak to drivers who drive them. I know with a Freightliner Century Condo you can easily get 6+ mpg and maybe 8mpg when loaded. Walmart bought the new Prostars for this reason and will continue to buy them. Also, one member said his old T6 with the 3406 got 7.1mpg when loaded.

Thanks for all the advice fellas. Wound up buying a new 2008 386 with an ISX500 and a 70" sleeper for $114K. I think it will be a good truck for us.

Thanks, listen wait till you get in a truck, start to drive, and then you will come back here and read your posts. You will realize that this engine, that volvo, this transmission, dont mean crap when you are lugging 80k lbs and have a 50mph head wind. No matter what you are doing if you are gonna run 80k lbs and do 68-70mph back to the west coast you will not get 7mpg. Maybe on a day where you have a strong tail wind, and 15k lbs in the box, yes, but not with a full load. No matter what truck. To guys that have been driving for a while, you seem like a kid thats into trucks, dont get me wrong, untill you get some seat time i dont think you should talk what kinda truck gets what millage.

Hunter,
Don't take the issues personally. You are only 21 and yes we all were there at one point in our lives. It is good that you have a strong interest but keep in mind you are only relaying hear say and have nothing to back it up with. I have been in and out of the trucking industry in all sorts of different vehicles for the past 10 years, only recently have I jumped into O/O and I don't know it all. It is a learning curve that will continue the rest of my life. When I give info I am ready to back it up by personal experience and not because I know a friend who did this or that. Keep your nose to the stone and try to learn as much as you can if your intent is to become a Truck Driver. Don't be afraid to relay advice but please don't come off as you are giving it with no possible means to back up your statements. The folks here will have much more respect for you if you present things in the true manner in which they came to you.
