If you see black smoke.. it probably ain't no joke... I like a black smokin' large car. As long as its smokin' for the right reasons.

My volovo did NOT have airride front axle. And I was not comparing it to the 359, but the 379's that i have owned. As for me not knowing what Im doing, thats what mechanics are for. Just new here looking for some input, but I guess the "old schoolers" just can't help themselves when i new kid comes to the block. If i offended your "club", just overlook me. I have only been at it 15 years or so, still wet behind the ears I guess.

550 told you the volvo front suspension is softer because of th elonger front spring then the pete has.

I told you that if you wanted you could go to the air ride pete front axle but I wouldn't because it was a maintenance nightmare and if you didn't keep up with keeping it shimed tight it would scare you half to death to drive it. That said though it seems to be a popluar swpa these days because the guys can dump the air for that low rider look when they are trashing around the truckstops.
you asked we answered. sorry if you don't like the answers but no offense was meant. But you are talking about not only petes which in themselves have a VERY faithfull fallowing but you are talking about Classic 359 petes which pretty much these days anyone that knows anything about them is either older then dirt or fanatical about them. So the responses about not putting a volvo suspension on it should not be a big surprise

Pliers Bad Medicine

Check out website, ect for: Shelby Elliot used truck sales,Sikeston MO. Crazy Shelby has dealed over a hunderd 359 models. Also he used to be renowned used Cummins KTA dealer. I have heard he stood behind what he sold. I still see where he advertises in Truckpaper.

I can see where your coming from about the sick useless show rigs. They seem over abundant these days. Most of the time I figure its somebodys tax write off.Sometimes its not so legitimate. When planning on a project vehicle whatever figure you come up with is usually double that figuere by the time your done. Money is NO object many times. sort of like the saying "You Don't Afford a Harley" mindset.

I didn't get offended, I'm just not married to one brand. I have had pretty good luck with both. Im about ready to find a new home for the 359 anyway. I really miss cruise control!

Funny you should mention Shelby, I was just looking at a couple of 387's that he has. Boy , I bet I'm really gonna get it now, from a 359 to a 387!

Different strokes for different folks and all that. Won't catch any grief from me about a 387 bubba. Cruise and all that is nice to have. Probably won't rattle and squeak as much either. Didn't upset the club. I'm greener than you are if you have 15 in. I would stick with petercar suspension on a petercar though if it were me. But then again, different strokes for different folks. Your truck, your dream. Do it like you want too bub. All I can do is throw some ideas your way. Ova...

Just thinking that fuel mileage and creature comforts would be nice about now. Do you know how hard it is to find a 387 mid roof, everyone of them dudes is a standup! Anyone got any ideas where to look, let me know. I keep a check on truckpaper, but with no luck. I like the looks of the truck for what it is, but I really don't want a standup.
