Thanks, i had the same issues when i put my hot ecm on. I was out of air flow, i had the stage 3 turbo. I put the stage 5 on and at the same boost levels i dropped 250*F EGTs. More air= cooler exhaust temps. I push the same boost psi but the stage 5 has a bigger compressor wheel and pushes alot more volume at the same psi.

I had to baby my truck 4500 miles like you are doing now, first thing i did when i got back home is bigger turbo.

Just wanted to thank both of you guys for the thread. Very informative! Hey 550, you should try to get your own show on xm. Call it "Big Cats" or something! I bet youd be surprised at the number who would eat this up! If Kevin Rutherford can talk about fuel economy and specing trucks why not someone tlking about power?

830hp You are going to need that 3406B manifold as well, it will really make a HUGE difference. I would consider one as soon as possible, they bolt right up, just gotta grind some material of the manifold where the thermostat housing is since they are so bulky.

I talked to Vic just now, the guy i bought my injectors from, and he said the 3406B manifold dropped his EGTs by close to 300*F...... I never ran the stock manifold with the injectors, i knew it would run hot, i didnt know first hand how hot and restrictive it was, but i knew it was a big enough restriction to not risk it. I mean the 3406B manifold outflows the C15/16 manifold by 600CFM!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are lucky here the CAT ACERT and Cummins EGR have just started coming in this year you can still buy a brand new Western Star with a C15/16 in them.
Cat 3406B engines are a dime a dozen here so I will get a manifold and put it on there is still plenty of engine work I want to do yet so look after yourself I will need to pick your brain soon.
