Sad. That just means alot of people are driving older tractors that will cost them more money in the long run. I have noticed alot of owner ops are not getting repairs done like they normally would. I hate the high fuel prices

Of course the numbers are down from 2006 . 2006 had record sales of prebuys to avoid trucks with DPF's . I don't put much credibility to the article . There were record sales in 2006 . How many fleets have 4 year old trucks with over 500,000 miles ? Watch for high sales in 2009 .

Cost them more money how, by not having payments, getting better millage, having a engine that will last a million miles and not run 280*F oil temps and 2500*F exhaust temps? Its not the fuel prices, its the new pos engines. I rather drive a 1980 ex hd W900A with a 3406E swap than a new W900 with a pos dpf equipped cummapart isx.

From what I have seen and heard how will you make money when its in the shop for recalls and warranty work?? And lots of it too.

I can see what he is talking about. New trucks come with a warranty and a "piece of mind" but also a nice payment. But if you can get in a decent used truck for half the cost then your saving on the payment but you might have to come out of pocket for shop cost. but anyway...

The main reason truck sales are down is because of the 07 epa emissions and if you like them wait until the new emissions in 2010 and see another drop in sales.

I think every one should stop buying new trucks.Engine Manf.might raise enough heck and make it hot on the tree huggers who drive smoking junkers are limos and private jets.
