Is there an effective difference, ie one that should sway a decision to buy a different truck to have or avoid one or the other?

Any of you driven both, so you can compare?

We are going to buy an additional used KW........and the
question of the 400 vs 380 keeps coming up. We have one with the AG380, and it is just fine.

We were told-------and you know how that can go-------that the AG400 allows more sway to the load than the 380.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

October of 2007, I bought a 2001 W900 flattop that had been "upgraded" to the AG 400. It seems that I was told it was an upgrade from the AG380, but it may have been from an AG200, which I've heard is done quite often. Does the 380 have the knuckle joints similar to the 200?

Although the '01 came from a dealer in Tulsa, OK., I had been visiting with the KW used truck sales manager over in Houston, TX. This fellow is extremely knowledgeable, and during my truck shopping, I gained a lot of education from him. After buying the '01, and introducing it to Lousy-anna's rough roads, I quickly discovered the truck had a serious problem- it road like S#!T !!!!!!! Unable to find the problem, I got rid of it.

My old 1996 W900 had the AG100, which is almost trouble free, and has a great ride (IMHO). The Houston used truck manager stated that the 380, and the 400 are good suspensions, though not as soft riding as the 100, also, he mentioned that the 200 wasn't that great of a deal, because of the knuckle joints.

I was hauling grain with my '96, then went to pulling chemical tankers with the '01, which I traded on an '04 with the AG400. While I do notice the 400 has a lot stiffer ride, I don't think it allows swaying any more than the 100, however; pulling different type trailers makes it hard to judge accurately.

droy is right on the money! The 200 is upgraded to the 400, the AG380 is basically a pete flex-air has them big half round springs and 4 big bags instead of them 8 tiny doughnuts.

Don't know if it works on KW's, but if you re set the regulator to a much softer setting on the Pete air leaf the ride becomes plush and soft as Charmin Ultra w/o any problems.
