Lug Nut Torque

I want to buy an impact wrench so I can remove my wheels without having to drive to the shop.

Is a 1900 ft/lb impact wrench sufficient?

That is way more impact wrench then you'll ever need on wheels. I own a 1200 ft/lb and it is more then I need, unless you have a lot of rusty bolts. You may need 1000 ft/lbs for removal on some of the more stubborn nuts, but the max torque on the hub piloted nuts are around 450, and 550 or 600 ft/lbs on the earlier budds. Double check those numbers on max torque bc its been awhile since I last looked them up.

any cheap 1" impact should do fine. about 1200ft pounds. remember with a 1" gun you need the larger 1/2" air line and fittings.
personally I found a 3/4" impact gun that runs 1200 ft pounds and it works good on wheels and still uses a 3/8" line. I've broken loose stuck nuts that our old 1" gun couldn't

3/4 is easier on your back. 1200 ft lbs is good

Thanks for the feedback.. It looks like 3/4 it is..

I haven't seen any 3/4's with the long shank. Is there any problem reaching in with the standard size?

If you can't find a long shank 3/4, get an extension. I doubt that there is a long shank one in a decent brand. The inlet is 3/8 inch but the hose size recommended is 1/2 inch.

I have found out a high end 1/2 will also do the trick i got one from I/R [ingersall rand] and just out of curiosity i gave it a try, to my amazement it took them off, I also have 1/2 airline running to it.

that gun made a believer out of me, no more discount air tools!!!

I can reach them without an extension but I have 24.5's so I won't vouch for 22.5's
