Dyno Day numbers anyone?

I have seen the results of 2 first Alban Engine Dyno Days when Bruce Mallinson wrote about them but I have read that there have been more of them but haven't seen any numbers online. I think Bruce stopped writing about them when Cummins engines didn't make any big numbers and some Cats blow up and tiny Detroits took King of the Hill crown. Anyone have any results, also from Antrims Dyno Days and any other events you know.

We have been planning to arrange a dyno event for over the road trucks here in Finland, just want to see some numbers we should aim for. Problem is there is only 1 dyno that can test big power engines, others give up somewhere over 700whp.

Big Hp #'s

Your right V8 Lenny thats what happened, we were down at the last Alban Cat Horsepower Shootout in Oct 2007. went there to put big horsepower down, got all the way to 1000 h.p. and broke traction, lost all that boost plus $250 of fuel additives, scalded two pistons, were hoping and knew we could put as much as 1500 horse down, but they wouldn't let us chain it down like we wanted. Oh by the way were to two 12.7 Detroits that Mallison wrote about # the 2003 Horsepower shootout. that Ralph Dineens Western Star that put the 1260hp to ground he still drives that daily. Made certain people look real bad knowing we built this horsepower with out his help. The lastest on the Antrim Horspower shootout is they found out that we might show up and all of a sudden it was canceled, they told us it was a lack of participation. Doesn't matter they havnet got a big enough dyno for us anyways.

I read once about one over on the east coast. The guy who won it was in his 60's or 70's with an old Pete, KTA600, and a 5*4 tranny. He was putting out something like 12-1400 HP and he worked the truck everyday.

What fuel additives were you using? What happened to those 2 pistons and why? I think you are the first ones in north america to be able to do custom programming to ECM.

Here is the results from Alban 2003 in PDF.

I was at the Alban 2007 , never saw your green WS make that kind of power, not saying it didn't but any ways the official winner was John Hamilton out of MI, 948 to the tires with a 3406E , The only one I saw go over 1000 was Cliff Lick Jrs, twin turbo, P7100 pump Bosch 3406B, but it also like the Detroit messed up on the dyno, Blakenship messed his Cat powered truck also. I think the dyno operators were to blame for most of the failures. As for the Antrim Dyno day, it was held, and was not a good Detroit to be found no matter what the guru says, Blakenship won it 920 ish without the box , over 1000, with box on 4, don't remember the exact figure think it was 1048.

It was close too 1100 with the box Rob..... I talked to Kurt and he told me the same thing the detroit went south as soon as you guys hit the power adder. Never made over 800hp from what he said. We can all run nitrous and propane to make huge numbers.

Is there not any technical rules for those dyno competition? Like no power adders, straight diesel only? If they are real working trucks there should be no nitrous allowed. I dont like the way these competitions are going. Like in Quebec CamDrags, companies with too much money are building trucks for competition only, it takes the fun out of the rest of the participants when you have no change winning with a real working truck. I think they have gone a little bit too far when you have to change your cracked pistons after every race weekend like I have read Coga is doing.
