I went off Cabbage yesterday 39mph top to bottom 78000LBS and never touched the brakes. I dont know if its a Pac or Jake brake, but what ever it is its the best engine brake I have ever had on a Cat.

If it's the truck in your signature,it's probably a Cat engine brake.

Who built it first?

Cat is a johnny come lately to the truck engine business.

The only reason I even liked the 1693 was because of the precombustion chambers. Sure a little less thermally efficient design but, rugged as hell, tolerant of low cetane fuel, and nozzle spray patterns were not as critical.

The precombustion design also minimized ignition delay and sent a nice smooth flame front into the cylinder.

So what was the original diesel engine designed to run on?
