| Injector codes Cat DD Cummins Volvo.. If I understand right these injector codes are calibration codes from the manufacturer. Some injectors flow less some more and they all have different codes? If I want more power I put in codes from least flowing injectors, right? What about the balance of the engine, isn't it running very badly with "wrong" codes in it? Or is it like I heard somewhere that they are only for smooth idling? If that's right, maybe we could ask from the injector manufacturer or remanufacturer what is the code for low flow injector in different engines and use that on every cylinder, who cares about the idle quality! Started to think about this when I was reading about you guys in North America and Down Under changing injector codes of Cats and Detroits, never heard it done in Europe. I know they must put new codes when they change new injectors to Volvo engine but never thought what those codes actually mean. Anybody know codes for Volvo Delphi and Cummins Celect injectors? |

| DDS if I remember right in a seperate thread you mentioned about being able to flash a C-15 ecm is that correct. If so I am interested in having this done.

Your statement about crankshaft stress has me a little concerned, as I had my codes changed to 5232. Prior to that, they were "all over the board", and I was told the reason for that was to bring the engine into compliance as far as the nox emissions. I really can't say if my engine is idling any rougher, I wasn't looking for that, I did notice however that it does seem to smoke just a bit changing gears. I am talking about something I have no knowledge of , so bear with me.... Would the proper way to change the injector codes have been to add the same value to each injector, instead of changing them to an across the board 5232? i.e. #1 inj. has a stock code of 3855, changing it to a 5232 would add a value of 1377, then you would add 1377 to the other injectors to retain the balance???? Some Cat industrial engines come from the factory with 1100 for all the injector codes.

What makes so big differences in injector flow? Nozzle hole size, tolerance between plunger and barrel, needle lift or what? |

| I don't see how changing the code would change the spray pattern. The pattern would be controlled by how many nozzles and where they are. The code controls the duration as far as I understand it...but I've been wrong before.

| My 3406e had all of them set to 1500 when I got it. A Cat wrench turner told me that was a default number but I'm not sure I trust him since he didn't even know how to run the overhead. |
