| Insulating the cold side of the AC lines keeps them...well...cold. Run the engine and the AC for a bit then open the hood and find the cold line (which will be cold like a beer out of the fridge and usually will also have condensation on it like that can of beer) and wrap it in that $.87 foam from home depot for your hot water pipes. Then get a roll of that aluminum reflective tape and wrap the insulation with that. Be creative and do your best to shield the aluminum line from heat. The colder the system stays before it reaches the Evaporator the less it has to cycle which saves fuel and wear and tear on the AC system. A word of caution though if you are one of those people who likes to sit in a frosty truck with AC cranked full blast for hours on end this modification can actually ice up the Evaporator in the dash. |
