How to maintain your a/c system to avoid poor cooling

Cab air conditioners use r134a, a refrigerant that’s always under pressure. Even at 32 degrees f, the refrigerant is already under more than 30 psi, making leakage a constant threat. If refrigerant leaks out, the liquid refrigerant level in the evaporator will drop, and the cooling capacity of the system will drop drastically. Low refrigerant does more than reduce performance — it soon leads to damage.

The refrigerant isn’t the only important fluid inside the system. There also is a synthetic oil that lubricates the compressor’s moving parts even at low temperatures. Both fluids absorb water from the humidity in the air outside unless the system is tight.

Insulating the cold side of the AC lines keeps them...well...cold. Run the engine and the AC for a bit then open the hood and find the cold line (which will be cold like a beer out of the fridge and usually will also have condensation on it like that can of beer) and wrap it in that $.87 foam from home depot for your hot water pipes. Then get a roll of that aluminum reflective tape and wrap the insulation with that. Be creative and do your best to shield the aluminum line from heat.

The colder the system stays before it reaches the Evaporator the less it has to cycle which saves fuel and wear and tear on the AC system.

A word of caution though if you are one of those people who likes to sit in a frosty truck with AC cranked full blast for hours on end this modification can actually ice up the Evaporator in the dash.

WOW! Relax! I gave you a point of reference in which if you took the time to read would have found your answer. I did not post any statements about the freeze 12 specifically since I am not thouroghly familiar with it.
