I would like to light up my tractor and trailer side with more flashing power, so that when I'm changing lanes, everyone knows. But, LED lights are limited in selection and high in price at the truck stops. Anyone know of any good online retailers that sell these "chicken lights" at reasonable prices. Also, comments on the legal limitations on such lights would be appreciated--I'm a 48 state rambler.

4state is good, iowa80 has their own website as well. There are others. I like 4state, if they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they'll order them for you. Most of the major LED manufacturers have websites you can browse. Maxxima, Grote, Truck-Lite, Panelite, Trux, Peterson, Unitied Pacific, and American Superlite are the main ones I know of. Do a search, you'll find their websites. Find what you like, then order it from 4state, they'll give a fair price in my experience, and great support.

I don't think their are any regulations on how many you can use, except for the front and back, marker/ident lights (you're not supposed to have a solid row) and of coarse turn/tail/brake. A lot of trucks are in violation of those, so I don't think they're enforced a lot. You should be able to find those regs online too if you're concerned.

I think most cops are just happy when you actually have working lights. Which is usually too much to ask for these guys pulling container chassis.:biggrin_2552:

LOL, probably true. Sorta like the train horn thing, technically not legal, but they overlook it.

I put some of the big 4" double LED lights they sell at TA on my mirrors like the classics and petes have and I have had a noticeable increase in 4wheelers moving out of my way now. That proves they're not paying any attn to your normal turn lights, but they can't help but see them bright things in front of them. I think they're about $50 ea at TA, maybe a little cheaper online, but I had points built up and they had a sale to boot. I had to ask for the clear lens lights as they weren't even on the shelf, but they have them.
