Time for Big Cam rebuild..550Hp...Taking suggestions

Hello Fellow Truckers


I am getting ready to build my Big Cam to about 550 ....To my ol school Cummins guys is this a strain on that old block....Also what are some great 400 Cpl to build from I had cpl of 625 in mind..........I am taking in all view points even the negative ones.......This is for an Ol 85 FrieghtShaker log truck with a 15 Speed TO 4.10 gears the truck is in excellant condition!

Burn it to the ground and put a CAT in it, you will keep the oil prices down that way..... think about that one.

Make sure you buy all new head bolts. We did one around 5-6 years ago. Lower compression, retarded cam timing, big schwitzer turbo, big injectors that were supposed to go in a genset engine and a hot pump with the bigger gear drive with #6 fuel lines to the front and rear head. It ran pretty good but was hard to start when it got cold out. Have fun.

my cumapart man said put 290 pistons in it,raise compression to 13:1,400 pistons are about 10.5:1 just my 2 cents,i,m a catman myselfi got a contact in VA.that can make cummins tough.exit 1 off 1-77.where they are buildin new Loves Trucker Trash Hole
