ok I'll try to explain...we have three categories. Class C consists of working trucks with no power boxes and no smoke; Class B...most racers work with the trucks they race, serious power add; and Class A...extreme power big $$$$$ and most of those racers drive their truck on the road to every event.

orange international the truck in question
over 1500 hp at 2600 rpm I want change categorie
I build the engine in the red International, It works every day and it would only have about 700 to 800 hp to the wheels. Who's flash are you running to get 2600 rpm?

If this is the case, I don't see how Coga, Bouchard, and others can be putting 3000 HP down and still keep the pistons from melting. Also the amount of boost pressure is upwards of 150 PSI. I just don't think that 3000 HP is a real number, I feel that they are in the neighborhood of 1500-1600 HP with gobs of torque. I would love to hear someone that actually races up there (maybe DDS if he is still around) speak out about this.

bern009 if you want help figuring out what it would take to build a mountain motor, then you need to help us. Post a link to the rules (perferable in english) or just type them. Also all the HP/TQ in the world doesn't mean a thing if the rest of the vehicle isn't built to handle it. The clutch, transmission, u joints, driveshafts, and rearends all need to be just right. If a person is gonna spend the money to build a great motor you might as well spend a little more and build a truck that is capable of it and best suits what you are asking of it.
Its hard to say how much power these trucks running when you do not know if they are running NOX , propane or water. I have never had a inspection of my truck at these race's and I do not think Coga allows anyone to see under the hood, last time I saw the hood up they had a moving blanket on the engine and crew standing 15 feet from it to keep poeple away.

I kinda figured that they were running some kind of power adder just from the amount of smoke and how well the engine hold together...with the amount, distance, and speed that the smoke is coming out I can honestly say that they are turning some big RPMs with a lot of fuel...this pretty much requires some water to cool the inside of the motor down. I can imagine that many guys are pretty secretive about their setups cause even we are at the local fair pulls I go to.

A lot of the pickup pullers were the same way, some still are. While the bigger mod class guys usually leave the hoods or lift bodies up. One in particular I know said he didn't care who looked, the secrets are on the inside. Sure you can see the pump, or turbos but with no numbers it's not like anyone is going to do any real spying. He even ran a solid billet block for almost a year without anyone noticing, "hidden in plain view". All the secrecy does is irritate fans. 98% of all the people who want to look don't have a clue at what their looking at, they just like shiny stuff.

Caterpillar 32.1L Marine Engine - C32 ACERT

12 Cylinders And 1,925 [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

Some of the largest diesel engines in existence never make it onto our highways. Instead, these massive workhorses either power off-highway equipment, industrial machinery, or watercraft and are expected to operate flawlessly-oftentimes, around the clock. The new C32 ACERT engine from Caterpillar is no exception.
The 7,000-pound V-12 has a bore of 5.71 inches and a stroke of 6.38 inches, which brings displacement to 1,959 cubic inches. The twin-turbo'd engine makes 1,925 hp at 2,300 rpm-that's nearly 1 hp per cubic inch! Fuel is provided courtesy of Cat's mechanically actuated, electronically controlled unit injection system (MEUI) and is delivered via its latest ADEM A4 electronic control unit (ECU), which makes the 32.1L engine [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. Tier 2-compliant
The new C32 ACERT replaces the previous C32 and features improvements like a smaller, but more robust engine block, 15 percent more peak power output, all standard maintenance items located on the service side of the engine for optimum access, a self-priming, gear-driven [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. , and a corrosion-proof titanium heat exchanger with an integrated fuel cooler for extended durability. The engine was designed to power pleasure craft applications like performance yachts, cruising yachts, and fishing vessels. We'd say with more than 1,900 horsepower and the latest emissions-friendly technology, that shouldn't be a problem! DP
