Caterpillar 32.1L Marine Engine - C32 ACERT

Some of the largest diesel engines in existence never make it onto our highways. Instead, these massive workhorses either power off-highway equipment, industrial machinery, or watercraft and are expected to operate flawlessly-oftentimes, around the clock. The new C32 ACERT engine from Caterpillar is no exception.
The 7,000-pound V-12 has a bore of 5.71 inches and a stroke of 6.38 inches, which brings displacement to 1,959 cubic inches. The twin-turbo'd engine makes 1,925 hp at 2,300 rpm-that's nearly 1 hp per cubic inch! Fuel is provided courtesy of Cat's mechanically actuated, electronically controlled unit injection system (MEUI) and is delivered via its latest ADEM A4 electronic control unit (ECU), which makes the 32.1L engine [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. Tier 2-compliant
The new C32 ACERT replaces the previous C32 and features improvements like a smaller, but more robust engine block, 15 percent more peak power output, all standard maintenance items located on the service side of the engine for optimum access, a self-priming, gear-driven [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. , and a corrosion-proof titanium heat exchanger with an integrated fuel cooler for extended durability. The engine was designed to power pleasure craft applications like performance yachts, cruising yachts, and fishing vessels. We'd say with more than 1,900 horsepower and the latest emissions-friendly technology, that shouldn't be a problem! DP

Cant argue with you on the cubic inch thing. But gonna be a bit_h getting it under the hood of a 900B.........

Building a C18 up from scratch would be pretty expensive, no idea how much though, It may be worth trying to get a secondhand marine C18 if you can find one for a good price, then you'd have all cats biggest bits to start from, C18 crank, rods and pistons (lower comp for big power), big cam and injectors, just add turbos and ECM of you choice, pull off the heat exchangers and connect it to an aftercooler and radiator and go racing.
Other option might be ex-millitary, I know there are 950hp C18s speced for the millitary but not sure how easy it would be to find one, dont know how many were built.
I already have a cat c18 in my peterson horizontal grinder, it's a twin turbo 'side by side' I have a lot a problem whit my turbo but the machine still under warranty. my cat dealer will give me a quotation this week for a brand new c18 engine

How many HP's?
How many hours on the machine?
How do you like the motor other than the turbo problems and how are you liking the grinder?

I recently built a C16 for a TORO Tub Grinder and fitted C18 Injectors in it with C16 ECM and it runs about 850hp and I expect no more than about 2000 hours from the C16 Turbo if i'm lucky.. however since the production of the Tubby went up 4~6 times its original the owner is happy if the whole engine only lasts 3000 hours. They sit on 99% load hour after hour so they get no rest!!!

Original engine was a 855 360hp Cummins and no comaparison to this C16..
