When going over the smoke limit in diesel engine, the engine efficiency drops very quickly and that means you get less power from given fuel amount.

I think pullingtrucker is also right about the heat. You will propably need water injection to keep engine alive for more than 5 seconds, even if you use air-to-water intercooler filled with icewater.

I guess those 3000+ hp supersemis make max power at more than 3000 rpm, maybe 4000-5000 range. HP is torque x rpm, at higher rpm you get more power with lower torque. Lower torque means lower cylinder pressures.
Sorry took so long to write back, been on holidays. I think your right, getting air in would be a challange, the other thing I didnt think of was when you have enough air in the cylinder to burn all that fuel the cylinder pressure would be a lot higher than stock, wonder if the injector efficinecy would drop of a lot when trying to push fuel into such high pressured gas.
Nitrous oxide is a pretty good substitute for air but it would suck down a couple of bottles pretty darn quick.

has anyone ever played around with running straight methanol, or mix or even a lower % of gasoline mix. You would need monster injectors for the methanol. Straight meth would solve a some of your heat issues.

I know on the 5.9 cummins you can easily run a 50/50 mix of diesel/gasoline without any negative effects. But thats also on the mechanical motors. I dont know if the electronic injectors can take the abuse of gas mix.

Whats the benifit of mixing in hydraulic oil?

I have seen pics of a 3208 Cat running straight methanol, had spark plugs where the injectors when and was supposed to make 5000hp, search the web for silver bullet pulling team.

Yep thats Jordan Lustiks tractor out of Eighty Four, PA. He has a newer tractor that he also pulls with called the Bullet Reloaded. These tractors pull in a couple different organizations, but in the NTPA they pull in the Super Stock Open class. This is basically the heavy hitter division of the "farm tractor" class. These type of tractors have had heavy modification done to the motors and there are still catastrophic failures. This is not something I would suggest doing for a truck competeing in the rodeos up north. The main reason is spectator safety. I have seen these motors come apart and launch parts 20 ft away easily and sometimes farther.

I don't see the benefit of the hydrualic oil either. The only benefit I could possible see is more lubrication for the injectors...but that wouldn't gain you any measureable HP/TQ. I still feel the best way to reach the kind of numbers we are talking about is with pure diesel, huge boost, and a power adder like nitrious. A water/meth system would be a go addition to help with the burn and cooling.

what is the second puller doing in the video thats making the motor pulse like that and making the big plume of white smoke every couple pulses. I know hes loading spooling the motor up, but whats making sound like it has a rev chip in it. Is he spraying a water/meth mix or something.

From the smoke plumes and noise it sounds like he is trying to get the turbo(s) to spool up to fast and the water injection system is kicking in to early. Many pullers in the USA use a hobbs style pressure switch to activate the injection of water into the intake. If the switch is set to low the water can put out the ignition of fuel in the cylinder.
