| 500 hp by uploading new calibration to ECM, anything beyond that takes new parts from what I know Last edited by Art387; 2 Weeks Ago at 09.52 PM.. |

| its at its max now. 500-620 in the earlier engines were the same parts. i dont recall the other power levels, but there are 3 levels of engine specs.

| generaly those 475's were higher specs turned down. Art wtf is a concept wheel? Cummins AU confirmed what i found via online reserch regarding power levels. The main thing they checked was that the engine did in fact have a HX60W, shich is the required turbo to produce big power... This is the same as the us delivered signature 600/620 turbo, with the addition of a wastegate.

| ill get the cpl, it has a wastegated turbo but i think its must be a less powered turbo, i just never hear any turbo whine like my cats have. 550 horse would be nice but i doubt i would notice a 25 hp gain. |

| The turbo wont whine like a Cat. At 580 mine is very quiet. Look at the blue id tag on the turbo copressor housing. It will tell you what model the turbo is. Also, these engines build hp and Tq proportionate to rpm, where Cats make it all down low. So in reality, these things dont feel like they pull worth a damn. mine rattled good hp numbers, but my old C-12 felt like it pulled harder ( didnt but thats the seat of the pants feel )

"I know this is old but, Any cummins ISX below 530hp does not have concept gears. Therefore they can only be turned up to 500 hp max. The concept gears reduce gear train rattle. The other limiting factor is driveline. If you have spec'd a 1650 tq trans or less your stuck to 500/1650 max. if you have 1850 tq or more trans then your fine. I also believe for a 565-600 the turbo is different. Another thing Cummins neglects to tell us is that the load based speed control cannot be disabled on any engine less than 530 hp except for vocational ratings. I went through this whole scenario trying to get my 475 turned up to 530 so I could disable LBSC. Cummins should issue a disclaimer with their engines that whatever hp you paid for is only available when a program that was designed by a desk jockey decides you can have it. I paid for 475 HP I don't want the computer telling me when i need it all. The other thing they should disclose is that unless you get a 530 or larger engine it's going to sound like an old gravel crusher at idle and there;s nothing you can do about it unless you're willing to spend 2k CDN to replace the gears with the much quieter concept gears. " He (and me too) is talking about EGR engines, when did you started to have them in AU? Your emmissions laws are different, right? Now there is question I wanted to ask. Those concept wheels make for nice idleing, thats for sure (I have them). But how is it, that they are needed for higher horsepower? Whats the differene they make from that point of view? |
