whats the difference between century class and columbia??

The difference between the Century & the Columbia? The headlight! That's it! The headlights. The columbia's headlights are aimed to blind the aliens up above & the Century's headlights are aimed to blind other drivers as they pass or get passed.

 

First I've heard of that. Someone would have to prove that one to me before I'd believe there is a difference in the chassis. Most parts interchange, most of the differences are cosmetic. The main ones I know of for sure are the hood/grill (the most obvious), the dash/cluster/chassis ecm(computer in the cluster) and badging. There may be some other subtle cosmetic differences, but the only other things that really differ are the options from truck to truck.

I've proven that you can transplant a century dash into a columbia with only some additional wiring, because some of the century cluster specific wiring is left out of the columiba harnesses. (mainly the button pad wiring) the rest is option/gauge specific. If fact, you could get some columbias with a cluster similar to the century with the removable gauges. I don't think it had the same lcd display/computer with mpg and all of that though. The left hand(main) cluster, or chassis computer as FL calls it too I think, gets all it's data from the main engine ecm databus so in that aspect they're interchangeable. I've done enough wiring and pouring over wiring layouts/pinouts and schematics of both my columbia and century data to know they are the same depending on options etc. I think even the corinado is the same (same cluster as the century I think too).

I hope this helps enlighten you some. As far as I can tell, you can swap the body from one to the other and maybe even with a corinado if it's the right wheelbase. That's one thing I can say I like about FL, they are very modular/interchangeable if you know the correct diagrams and p/n's, but that's all very VIN specific. You have to have a VIN with the right option to get the info out of them. I had to hunt down VIN's for centuries with the right gauges to wire up the extras on my new cluster for my truck. My columbia now has 17 gauges incl. the right weigh load scale (mine originally had the FL psi gauge so it was a simple swap).

 

The #%#& headlights are about the biggest PITA about the Columbia. I hate them, I need new lenses as mine are pathetic. It's too bad they're not interchangeable too.

 

I can't say it's so 100% now, but I'd be very surprised if not. My Columbia has an option I'd never seen before it called a backpack sleeper option. It has extra storage space behind the bunks, you can see the hump between the stacks in the rear on my pics. I also put some pics of the dash up if you're interested.

 

The radiator is different sized.
But besides that and the hood and the headlights that's about it.
